i always wanted to do a VIp car, but too expensive for me. i wanted to VIP a q45 or something, but cant afford that. so next best thing is old school VIP cars

if this is in the wrong section, mods can you please move it

and just to clear some things up. after some research the 85-89 cressida is RWD? what about 91? because the 91 looks like it too

thanks

YES, the 85-89 and 91 Cressidas are RWD. A buddy of mine restored one and it came out so clean! I'll post pics later.

If you're thinking about going old school, doooo it! The Cressida is a great platform and it even shares the same motor as the first gen Supra -- NA 3M. It's also a great platform for a VIP car. I saw a few featured ones a few years back in Vip Style magazine. One 91 Cressida even had an MR2 T Top.. it was HOT SH*T! Too bad I don't have that mag anymore.

Oh well..

Hope this clears everything up.

Good luck!

Re: Toyota Cressida pics

actually the early body style runs from 85-88 mx73, the style changed for 89 gx81 jzx81 mx83(?). the pics you posted are the newer body style, 89 and up. the chaser, cresta, and markII share the same chassis with the later cressida, kits made for them should fit the cressida with little to no mods. the cressida is sort of a combination of a chaser and markII. i'll try to post some pics later ;)

Re: Toyota Cressida pics

thanks for clarfication 137 i didnt know the which gen was the mx73..
also last night i remembered that in fact the cres came on the mark II cresta platform so yea basically them kits from jp
can be fitted also if you wanna go custom i seen a cres with a 1st gen legend kit so theres a thought there not very vip'ish
but if you mess with it should turn out nice...
btw the cres shares the same engine on the na-7m.

Re: Toyota Cressida pics

well i can only speculate but: the markII headlights most likely will not work without converting the rest of the front end (fenders, hood, bumper), the chaser grille may actually fit the stock cressida, the chaser taillights may also fit but you would need the filler panel below them, this would cause the loss of the tag mount however, unless you converted to the chaser bumper, or mounted it elsewhere (imagination ;) ). much can be acomplished with enough time, money, and skill of course. again this is only speculation, and my opinion. 8)

Re: Toyota Cressida pics

how bout don't worry about body kits or light conversions or anything like that... step one: get the car. step two: slam the car. step three: get well-fitting wheels
try and accomplish those three first before even worrying about anything else, and you might find that you're already ahead of the game

i have two cressidas. the blue one and the ugly black one. my fenders on the black one were garbage so i decided to see how the Mark II headlights look with cressida hood and hacked fenders. it looks like garbage, i need a Mark II hood, fenders and a bumper. not many people work on cressida's so you gotta experament to figure s*** out....
