run flats.. emt

to my understanding, i heard that run flats have a hard side wall which keeps them from running flat in the event that there is a leak or rupture in the tire..

with the harder side walls, can these tires be stretched effectively.. say a 235 40 on a 10 wide wheel?

will it still be an effective run flat (being stretched and all)? 

 

Very hard to stretch... and kinda not worth trying

I really doubt you could stretch a run-flat and if you did, whatever engineering allows it to "run flat" would most likely be thrown out the window. With a stiffer sidewall being stretched against its will, it might even be riskier.
