question for F50 owners

ill add on to this later but as for now, briefly...

to all the f50 owners, if money was no problem, and you can turn back time:

- would you buy an 02-04 or 05-06. Why or why not.

05-06 no questions asked. When I got my Q, the 05 just came out and I couldnt afford it being I was fresh out of high school.

I dont like the trunk lid and the lights on the trunk but other then that, the whole car inside and out is a better car. Looks, performance, and quality of materials are all better.

the main things i like on the 05+ is the tails, leather is a huge plus (ive seen the leather and its just...wow. and also, i like the fact it has chrome moldings (would be nice to have until i could afford the actual jdm ones for the body kit)

but the thing i dont like (and im really big on interiors) is that the brown wood on the 05+ is a really dark wood which i dont like as much as the lighter brown used on the 02-04. ill post pics if you guys dont know what im talking about yet.

Look into it more because the Q45 has over 8 different wood colors available in every year.

But anyway, I cant think of a situation where someone would rather want the older model unless it has to do with speed (the 90Q45 G50 is quicker then the other G50's)

Id rather have a 97-99 y33 than a 00-02 y33. REALLY not a fan of the redesigned trunk.

True but I rather get a 99-01 Q45 and just buy a 97-98 trunk since its a direct swap. The newer models have the better interior

What else is different other than the center cosole and sunroof? I am curious because I thought those were the only interior differences.

Ive been in a 00 touring and a 97 normal so some of the differences may be because of the touring package.

The 00 had a wood wheel with radio controls, clock, sunroof, cd changer, center console in wood. Thats all I caught without looking into it. Not huge differences but still makes it better. Im not saying the things I mentioned are difficult to swap but finding parts might be difficult

getting a 02-04 leaves you with more money to mod the car plus theres a bigger after market. Theres a good 15-20 body kits available.

So far, there is only one kit for the 05-06. There will be more in a couple of years since they just released those exterior changes as the 08 japanese model.

You need to swap the whole front end for it to work. Grill, hood and bumper.

yes, that means no options for grills other then the JDM grill. Im sure Junction Produce and some other companies will make stuff, its just a matter of time

The 02-04 had the vents in the b-pillar that no longer came in the 05-06.
The 02 was the only year with the 2.8:1 rear diff.
The 03 and up had the heated and cooled seats and the intelligent cruise control were more common.

The only thing I would like would be the heated and cooled seats. The intelligent cruise control has been said not to work well in less than perfect weather, and it can interfere with radar/laser detectors.

I do like the 05-06 grill as it has a nice bold look to it, but the cost to change it is quite high, might as well do a President conversion.

hmm is that a good rear diff for the 02 and what does that mean. lol

did the 05-06 reposition the vent or just complete move it.

and how does it interfere with radar, like does it deflect it?

The President conversion is more expensive then I originally imagined.

A president conversion is more than 2x the cost of doing a 05-06 swap if you factor in shipping

For the President conversion, you need the hood latch, hood struts (its a heavier hood the the USDM hood since its not aluminum), bumper, Hood, grill, and mascott

05-06 conversion you just need the hood, chrome hood molding, grill and bumper and all of these parts retail less then the President parts

Headlights are the same price though.

Basicially, its slower off of the line but its alittle better on gas then the 03+ models.

Taller rear diff isn't as good for off the line acceleration, but better for fuel economy and high powered engines that need traction.

The 05-06 don't have the vents any more.

The cruise control radar sends out a signal and it gets reflected back to it. The excess signal would be picked up by the radar/laser detector.

dang i want an 03+ but want better economy, hope its not that much off.

radar interference, this is only bad if you have a radar detector right? or is it also bad for cops trying to gun in on you?
