How to negotiate price on a rare car?

This is a dilemma for me.

i want a black on black F50 q45 with full premium package.

but the sellers set it at a higher price than usual. Do you guys think they know that these are hard to find combinations and how would i go about trying to negotiate a price on such a rare car. Or do you guys think ill just have to pay the price for the exclusiveness?

A dealer owner told me that when he goes to aauctins, guys from japan come over and bid way more than what the actual price of the car should go for just because its rare to get black/black for them as well.

they know blk/blk is rare...they list the prices at dealer kbb...which is a couple thousand above private...and a couple more thousand above trade it...the dealers usually get the car for couple g's below trade in depending if they 'steal' the trade or not...if you offer them private party price on kbb, they will definitely work with you...but don't hit that number yet...offer them kbb trade in value then work from there...start rediclously low then end and where you want...don't let them push you around...take the 4th or 5th pencil...

and they won't want to talk total price of the vehicle if you want to finance...they will talk mo. payments and how much you want to put down...

not financing, looking to drop straight cash on private seller or ebay dealer (alot cheaper)

all i know is to not let them now you are looking for specifics, like color or options.

Colors are changeable..both interior and exterior. Find a car that has a good body, when I saw rare car..I thought you meant rare. Like a Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada or something. Not a Q45, why not find one that's far cheaper but in decent shape? You're going to repaint it and do interior stuff anyhow right? I don't get the whole black on black thing. I mean it's nice, but what's the rage?

Black on Black was available in every year that the car has been out. Its not as rare as you may think. Good luck with the purchase

The only Q45 that i would really consider "rare" would be an 06 model

Don't ever believe what dealers tell you. Offer a reasonable price if they don't take it, look elsewhere. If you already have fallen for the car or don't want to look any further get it! Just don"t buy at asking price.

Probably since it was the last year they didn't make very many. The F50 sold pretty slowly too.

Less then 1600 sold total from the 05 model year to the 06model year. Less then half of the 1600 sold as 06 models

well when you talk to them just to make sure you act like its no big deal and youre mildly interested, that way they know you wont hesitate to go and they will be more easily negotiable on price
