Just added iPod to my D3 system...

...and it's friggin awesome.  Finally got off my butt and installed the cable, put the end in the glove box for the Pod, and bam, piece of cake!  The iPod screen actually shows the Pioneer logo when it's on which is kinda rad, but no one will ever see it since the iPod will live in the glove box.  And best of all there's no delay when skipping songs like on the DVD, and I can leave my Nav disc in the HU at all times now. You have full control over the iPod with a screen interface which basically mimics the iPod's factory interface.  The only thing that sucks is different recording levels and there's no way in hell I'm gonna manually equalize every song to the same level in iTunes, just gotta adjust the volume all the time, lol.  I wish you could set the Pod to output songs to the same level like you can in iTunes.    Wait, can you do that with a Pod??

as far as sound quality goes, I don't have any sound problems! Mines works all the same w/ no issues!
 
My only issue is w/ so much music it's sometimes hard to get to what you want! 
Needs a better search functions but other than that I freakin love it!
 
Yo FLS try and play a movie from your ipod to the screen, I tried to do it w/ mine but I couldn't get the picture to show up, only sound. I have a Ipod touch so that could be a issuse!

Yeah, there's not any problem with the sound.  But you know what I mean, all albums are recorded differently so one song on one album might sound louder than another song on a different album.  In iTunes you can click "sound check" in the playback preferences so it "automatically adjusts the playback of all songs to the same level".

I don't have an iPod video so it didn't work for me either.  And same with the Navi, I don't ever use it, but on a rare occasion, but it's nice that when I do want to use it, I don't have to switch discs!

if you go tot he menu on your ipod
you can tell it to equalize all songs to the same level

I love watching ipod movies on my pioneer indash.

I LOVE this setup.  Just went out to the car, Menu > playback > sound check (clicked it on) and whamo, every song now plays the same output level.  SWEET.

Maybe that's why I didn't notice a difference! Hahaha! :shrug:

Same thing happend with mine with the video not showing up. You can fix that though, go into your Ipods settings, and turn "TV Out" on. I think you still have to control the video from the ipod, but itll show the picture and sound through your HU.

Nope! tried it! I think it doesn't work w/ the ipod touch :pat::sad:

how is the avic d3 when you want to search thur your ipod song list.. right now i have an alpine and if i want to search for a song that begins with the  W...it would take a long time to keep pressing the down button to reach the W...

You can search using the Ipod it's self which is faster and better or you can use the screen which is jus like you said, keep pressing down 
 
+You can search by artist, song, album, playlist, etc. 
but if you tryna find that WU TANG then it does take along time if you have alot of Ws 
you could go backwards???
 
I only listen to AZ now so I never search and it's in the As 
 
Another tip I do is I select what Iwant on the ipod then I plug it in

I leave mine permanently in the glove box outside of adding / changing music.  

One tip for scrolling fast through the HU is hit the up or down button several times fast and you can skip pretty quickly that way; like of it's on A and you want to go to M, hit down button like 5 times and you'll be close.  

Since I have mine in the glove box, I can't easily access it and I want to be able to just use the HU to control it.  Most part I just leave it on shuffle, but when I want an artist, I just do the above.  

I love this setup again since this came back up!  NEVER have to listen to the radio, no commercials FTMFW.

Shopping for back up camera now.  And I think I want to get the remote control for it.  Would be nice like when detailing the car mainly.

Mine stays in my glove box as well! I jus take it out when I leave my car for long periods of time!
 
The remote would be Dope though!

to be honest, i never followed trends. i dont buy something cuz every kid and their mom has one.

im a creative loyalist =] i got a creative zen vision w 60gb. ill post pics later once i get my mount in. its pretty neat with a 4.3" screen.

IMO, iPods have nothing to do with trends, at least for me. They were the 1st ultra small, mega storage portable music players.  They set the standard. I've never had a problem with one or with any Apple product I've owned for that matter and I've had quite a few. I have never owned a PC, only Apple Macs since I got my first one in 1997. The first design class I took was in 1994 and it was on an Apple then too.  Besides the two iBooks at my house, my G4 tower is from early 2000 and it still rocks, never once been into the shop for repair.  Only a processor and video card upgrade and it kicks butt with Leopard, pretty impressive IMO.  The fan is starting to make noise, but after 8+ years I can't get mad at that.

Besides, those other players don't work with the Pioneer D3 or other Pioneer systems, they're iPod ready, plug and play, full iPod control from your headunit. Can't beat that!  IMO anyhow.

Homie I'm exactly the same way! I for the longest refused on getting an ipod and being part of that crowd and I was always buying creative products but once the touch came out I wanted one!
 
Don't matter though they both are good, I jus need a device to hold a ton of music and the ipod does that for me! + it was free! so can't complain there!

You FLS you can use other devices w/ the D3 you jus can't use the screen to navigate through your music so you have to use the device but they have a newer model screen w/o NAVI which will work for any MP3 player...

Meh, I'm an Apple guy, it's all I've ever used, the quality, reliability, etc. can't be beat.  They're more $ but you know what they say, you get what you pay for....

Are there any Creative Zen adapters for popular navigation systems? My sister was a huge iPod hater because she doesn't like to conform but her Creative Zen died on her in a week. It was hard to use too. I hate Apple but you have to admit their click wheel is genius.
