the soon to be VIP S600

I thought i'd post a pic of my bone stock, almost purchased W140 S600. sorry for the crappy camera phone pic.
 
I should be picking her up later this evening. Honestly, I've had several mercedes, which include an '03 SL55, '04 G500, '01 S600, and an '08 S550.
 
Out of all of these cars, I think the W140 rides and looks the best, especially for a VIP project.

thinking about the Wald body kit, clean up the lights and some type of big ass faced wheels with uber lip (MAE style).
 
still looking for suggestions. suspension will probably not be bagged, but definately lowered. 
 
honestly, really just started looking into the whole VIP style, although i've always loved it. starting from scratch as a newb, so may take some time to really search and find stuff i like.
 
dang cars are costing me a fortune!

buy it, bag it, post it.
 
this car needs to be layed out... bad. whats really funny is as i was waiting for this page to load i was looking at this body style in another window to see what they run. i'd probably look for period correct brabus or something, but laying body would be #1 priority.

You couldn't afford one unless you were pretty high on the totem pole in those days (it was more expensive than the Century). A lot of the slabsided bodykits like insurance, Junction Produce, ETC were inspired by the flat side surfaces of the 140 and the 126.

Like everyone else (it seems) I really like the 140, I saw a documentary on the yakuza, they mentioned specifically that the S-class was the car of choice for a lot of people, the ones that couldn't afford an S drove the "Smaller homemarket cars"

It was mostly for the Oyabun and such, so you don't see too many modded unless they were REALLY close to that boss level.

yeah, i just gave up on the whole platform thing on this site... if its not in the "holy 10" i'll just say its not a platform since i know what he was asking.
 
and just to go a little ot: i'm not claiming to know the origins or how it all went down, but based on the information i've come accross the "true platforms" were chosen because import (euro) cars would have drawn unwanted attention. so maybe its that the benz was TOO fly, either that or too exspensive... either way platform does not mean top o the line.

a few years back I was looking into a used E class, did some research on online forums. It had a problem list longer than my monitor could show. I had to scroll down just to finish the list.

W140 models are the last of the 'true' mercedes...

That's the other reason I didn't buy one! And the fact there's no Airrunner kit for it :shrug:

I hear ya. One of the biggest benefits of VIP, To be able to euro style a lux j car without the problems of german cars.

i'm gonna have to agree with you on this. This is more of a presonal thing for me. When i was younger, this was one of my dream cars. i'm willing to dump some of my hard earned cash into it. i'm used to it from all of my other cars, so it'll be nothing new.  (throwing money away that is):pat:

(F*ck my dream car.) This Benz is hella nice, but in the getto that i live in i will probebly get pulled over every time i drive out of my drive way. I already get looks just for driving a stock q45.
