yep wife is getting a 2001 GS300 next month when we arrive back in San Diego. first thing i'm doing is tein CS and wheels. :biggthumpup:

Coilovers are a good choice but its just you can't adjust it as quick as air. Its more convenient to have air in CA. However, a majority of the Japanese run coilovers. :shrug:
 
Shinchu, I understand you don't "funk" around but the reason you are limited to certain areas to post is because we want everyone to learn about vip the right way. I have friends of mine who have been in the car scene for years but when they talk about vip its more of the misinterpreted info given by US magazines and automotive websites. Please don't take this the wrong way but everyone will have to spend some time in the VIP 101 and also you do have access to view all the other forums just limited to post in certain sections. Give it sometime and contact me in the next few weeks regarding your membership status.

mdenoga, i wasnt trying to be instanly approved for full access, just showing you all what im about. i'm no way a VIP guru, but i still know a thing or two, and wheel fitment is one of my favorite things to tinker with. i'm also very patient. so whenever you feel i'm "ready" then i'm ready. =)

thanks everyone. i'll consider alternatives to the tein CS as long as the wife is tolerant of them. this is pretty much her car, and she's allowing me to tinker with it a bit. the S14 is my full-on man toy.

Go with Tein CS with UAS bags instead of springs, or go straight air. Air's going to ride softer than the coilovers.

If you can't afford it, then wait. Don't impulse buy on the CS thinking it will go low enough. It won't, and it'll be a waste of money when you can throw it towards air.

yeah i should have asked grant for a ride in his Y33 with air before i started to move. i think its a little too late now... unless you want to take a ride down here, sweet-cheeks? =) maybe have some chili's for din-din? you know you want to...

yes i got the silvia for stupid-cheap. $6,000 USD. all i had to do really was replace the worn out apex'i coilovers (they sucked anyway. werent fully threaded bodies... much like the tein CS) replace the stuck cusco tension rods with some Dmax hotness, and also from Dmax i added some tie rod ends because they come with spacers that help with the bump steer. oh and of all things, the car came without a front strut brace. :augentreher:

and i just recently scored a greddy oil pan for free99 haha! and yes its the real deal. i have great friends. :biggthumpup:


i'll consider the air instead of CS, but i really dont need the car to be super OMFG VIPIZZLE slammed. its going to be daily drive by my wife who has never owned a lowered car before (GASP!) but she has been in my cars enough to know how to handle them. she just hates the harshness of coilovers, so i thought the CS with softer rates would be the best bet.
and yes there is also the cost aspect. she doesnt want to throw tons of money into the GS. just enough to get the point across that yeah, its hot. :giggity:

so if yokotaS13 gets down here to convince me to get air... maybe i'll do it if i can get a good setup for a great price.

anyway, just wanted to say yes, she has owned a lowered car before, our jzx90 cresta was lowered, but just 1.8 inches with springs/shocks.

and i also replaced the exedy carbon clutch with an ORC carbon clutch on my silvia. i think it was just normal wear and tear though. but it sucked because it went out on the way to mobara circuit, where yokotas13 tore it up and got 2nd place in beginner class (only cuz i wasnt able to drive that day you lucky bastid. =) )

If i may recommend the JIC FLT's I ahve them on my Q and love them they are just right not to soft and not too firm I have them set pretty stiff and they still provide a nice smooth ride but you could always go softer

Just saw part 4 of the videos, You picked it back up pretty well for being out of it for a year. Looked good, crazy deal for 6,000.

yeah bro go with air!:biggthumpup: ive been on the uas kit for a few months now and love it the ride is better than the tanabe nf210's i had before air. the ride is real close to stock at the right ride hight. i would suggest you do the digital controller thow you can set it to that perfect psi for ride hight and wire it to the ignition so it raises to that hight on start up. heres a few pics of my gs300 on uas!:biggthumpup:=)
