Question For Y33 Cima owners...

I haven't seen many retro fits on the headlights so I was wondering which porjectors are best or are reccomended. I saw a pic once on here somewhere with the gatling retrofit on the JDM headlights. Anyone seen or can post it?? Anyone gotz skillz to do the retro fit??? Thanks ahead of time!

Retrofit shouldn't be that hard! Jus will take some time to do.....
I thought about doing this myself w/ the gatling gun but it's becoming to over done and seeing it in person I'm not feelin it that much!

I say some gatlings for sale on ebay for around $300
DIY it! :biggthumpup: Hit up Dom for any questions! He did a pretty clean ass projector retrofit on his Y32

I know for sure the HID  black housing lights bolt right up, just gotta make the ballasts fit somewhere.

what are some ideas of projectors I could use??

There was a guy on NICO who put the projectors from a Dodge Viper in his stock Q45 housings, looked pretty good too.

 The ballast are mounted right on to the headlight.

So pretty much as long as it fits within I can make it work? Yeah I heard Audi has really nice projectors. 
 
True about the gatling gun lights, they are getting pretty overdone.

I was at Auto Fashion today jus kickin it and I was lookin through a old vipmag and they had a DIY in there for doing the gattlings...looked easy but they always make it look easy!

If you can find Q45 projectors for $300 then they are not HID and they look like ass when you put HID's behind them.  The real deal ones are $400-$500 usually on ebay.  I agree that they are overdone but they are still the most sought after projectors behind the LS430 projectors.
 
The LS430 projectors are the best projectors in the industry til this day as far as light output is concerned.  The Q45 projectors are just really for looks.  There are better options out there for light output.

On the contrary, audi (Valeo) projectors are not that highly regarded in the retrofit community. But they got 2 things going for them: They are some of the smallest projectors out there; and they have nice color for stock. 

A third bonus is that they can be flipped RHD/LHD, which was the ultimate reason i chose them.

If you want the best of the best, you need LS430 series 2 projectors. Insane width and brightness, but they are pretty damn big, so you might have trouble fitting them in the Y33.
Another popular choice is the S2K projectors, they would probably be second best next to the LS430s.

Thats all about max brightness though. If you want it for bling factor, gatling guns are big, but as you said a bit played out. The current choice for vippers in Japan is the M45/Fuga projectors, which light up around the outside 'shroud'. 

Or if you just want massive colourband (i.e. what makes the lights go blue/white/blue when you see the car coming from a distance), go for Maxima/E55 projectors.

If you are feeling mega-cashed up, go for a set of LS600h LED projectors... Thats BALLER lol

Yeah the LS600h would be super booowlin!! Might just have to save up and do it! lol! we'll see 
 
I really appreciate all the input everyone has thrown my way, really has helped!! What brands of HID is everyone running?? Or should I just get some stock ones from Infiniti??

If you want to don't want to change your HID's for a good 3-5 years then get Phillips.  Thats what most OEM applications use.  If you want to save some money and dont mind dealing with bulbs and ballasts going out every 6-15 months and the color of your bulbs changing drasticially from the day you put them in, then get something on ebay for $100.

the 04+ LS430 projectors are hands down the best projector to buy.  They have the best cutoff line, and are the cleanest amongst all luxury cars.

I agree with the LS430 output. It's one of the nicest i've seen. The beam literally spreads out from the sides of the car onward (nearly 180 degrees of light).  I noticed one when driving at night because the lights were lighting up the shoulders of the freeway.

I think some TL projectors would be a good fit on the Y33.

WOW!! That looks fkn awesome!! I may just do that!! :saiyancrunks: or maybe somethin else....Anyone knows who does a good job retro fitting??

I would say do it yourself! Should be fun and not too hard....
 
or find a shop that specializes in customizing audis. I got a buddy out here who has one of those shops and he does the angel eyes for audis pretty clean and bright....

Thing about the gatlings is, like my homie said, Every other city we go. Every other video, no matter where I go I see the same hoe......
 
So Im gonna search other style Projectors, Im really liking the S2ks.
