HI! There's no such thing as "bippu"...

It's not a real word, it's not said by people in Japan unless they are trying to read something one of you have written..and in that case it's followed by a large "[SIZE=7]?[/SIZE]" In other words, they don't know what the hell you just said or wrote. They do however know what "vip" is (as in "sounds like whip"). 
 
So where did all this confusion begin? Well, it might have started with one of my friends, I hate to admit it, but he seems to remember saying that [COLOR=red]a[/COLOR] while back. That friend is also a moderator here..haha. Let me see if I can find a quote from Dominik about the subject:

The psuedo word "BIPPU" comes from a literal Katakana to Romaji conversion of the word ビップ which is how the Japanese write VIP (like on the covers of vipstyle or vipcar magazine).
 
The actuall characters are:
 
ビ - BI
ッ - (indicates next consonant is double)
プ - PU
 
Put it together and you have BIPPU. However the first time i explained this i didnt realise people would start saying it with all letters pronounced. In Japan, U's are almost silent, so when they say ビップ, they actually say it as BIPP. Recently Elpresidente informed me that Americans are now saying it as BIPPOOO, which sounds completely wrong and makes me regret ever translating the characters
 
And before ElPres jumps in again, there is another way of writing vip: ヴィップ.　The character ヴ is now commonly used for V sounds. When this is read out though, Japanese people tend to say it as VWIPP.
 
In the end i think its best if us westerners just stick to saying vip, which rhymes with whip.[/quote]
 
And I was about to chime in with what he said there..haha. Here's another thing he said:

I also often say it as letters to people who don't really associate with cars well. For them it's easier association. If I say "vip" to them, they'll look at me strange..or they actually say "oh, you mean those vee eye pee cars", but I will NEVER say beepoo. Why? It's just [I]so[/I] wrong. I mean do you say you went to the circuit to go "dorifuto"? No, you say you went to the circuit to go "drift". If you have a grasp of the English language and can pronounce the letter "V", then please use it. Raping a foreign language isn't going to help you in this world and it most certainly isn't "JDM tyte yo!"
