Aftermarket radiator - g50 thread

hey,

im tryna shake things up, usually no g50 luv so just wondering

are there any interchangeable radiators, aftermarket, more fluid/cooling capacity than the g50 itself.

i recently changed mine cuz it had a whole in it, however i didn't take it to infiniti (stupid me) and now the new (i think) unit has my car idling higher to compensate for the extra heat and to turn on the higher fan to cool it down more efficiently,

just throwing it out there do you think i could add an aftermarket fluidyne/ koyo skyline/300zx radiator in there with an electric fan

i will take measurements (or just go off the fsm) and check other car models to see if any are interchangeable just based on the size

let me know what you think

just check the capacity....the inlet and dump positions and if they match you should be all good in the hood.

Measure the clearance of the radiator to the closest point to the engine. Remove your factory radiator and measure thickness. Add thickness of radiator to measurement of clearance. Find radiator that fits between radiator support and engine within the clearance. I recommend 1/2 inch of clearance to make up for any movement the engine might do. If your motor moves more than 1/2" then you need mounts.

i would like to something like a koyo of some sort or griffin but i was wondering if anyone tried anything yet...i may just go stock again but it would be nice to get something that will perform alil better.

im thinkin skyline with efans or 300zx or supra or even 240 because, the cooling capacity is larger which is a plus, for the q45, it'll be more than the Q, and in turn the carro will drive a lot nicer, cuz mine is ass when its hot. i think the fsm may have the measurements, if anything make mounts to compensate for prolly lack thereof. but honestly in my head i think a gtr 2 core should work with new hoses, thermostat, and some ice coolant i swear that car will never reach NOT

Is the radiator significantly undersized?

If not, and if you don't want invest in a big expensive al. rad just yet, try these things:

-drain the current rad fluid, and refill with 80/20 water to coolant mix. Water is better for cooling, but the coolant is needed to prevent any rust formation.
-add a bottle of Redline Water Wetter in there
-make sure you retain the shroud that goes around the fan as well as all the plastics underneath the car. One of the reasons for the plastics is to create increased airflow over the cooling system.

The above information has been gathered through working with wheel to wheel race cars and track-oriented cars.

p.s. if you go with an electric fan (pull > push), be sure to make it controlled by the thermostat! You don't want it on all the time as it would take longer to get the car to operating temp, and you don't want to have to hit a switch manually as it is not very VIPish!

he means the plastic shroud that is connected to the radiator....not the one that is mounted under the car...that is just to keep debre from under the car

and greddy just went bankrupt.

Do a search in the CSF catalog, and you will find the all metal dual core units as well as the stock single cores.
