GS300/ GS400

Aye whats up fellas, I m looking to move on from my 5th gen accord daily driver into something more comfortable for the next 4-5 years so I was looking into a used GS. I don't know much about Lexus/ Toyota except that people say they are reliable like hondas. So my questions are...

1) What is the difference between a GS300 and a GS400? I know the 300 is a v6 and the 400 is a v8 but what else may be different?

2) is 115 miles too much for a GS300/400? or do these things run until like 150,000 easy with out a problem like most hondas do?

3. What is a good price for a GS with great exterior and interior condition with say

(for a 300 vs 400)

70K

90K

115K

I just need some feedback on these cars because I m going to need one for the next 4-5 years and I want to know if I should be looking at something with like 70K instead of 115K miles.

sorry to be kind of ignorant on the subject but please "PUT ME ON" to the Lexus brand because I do not know anything about them except they are beautiful VIP cars, thanks in advance

I had Gs300 and Gs400 before and I don't think gas on the G400 is much different with the Gs300. There a lot of turbo set up out there can bolt right on to the Gs300. You can look into Clublexus. Na-t or Supraforum. Also like other members say lexus can goes up to 250k easily. My 1999 Gs300 got 300k when I sold it.

I love my GS......don't really care about boostin' either. Most say that they would have gone 400 if they could choose again. 115k is plenty good for odo reading. I would say a good price for a GS (depending on year/condition/mods) would be between 9k-20k. G/L

The Gs4 gets as much MPG as the V6, It's just that the V6 has to put in more power to get this car moving. I wish i could've gotten the GS4, but the Gs3 will work . We bought the GS300 for 15k with 82,xxx & it is a 2004 model.

BTW, where you from? Your username sounds really familiar.

The GS300 and GS400 get about the same gas mileage. I have had both. Except that my GS300 and IS300 got ~18-22 and my GS400 gets 25 all day. Get the GS400. V8 > I6 thats an easy one. If you you are into boost, why not boost the 400? It's the same price as boosting a VVTI 300 but if you are into the super horsepower number then you need a non-VVTI 2j-GTE Swap so it doesn't matter what engine you had in there.... but why not have the v8?

Better ingredients, better pizza......

I'm not even gonna commet about who makes the best pizza. I-6 can hold it's own just fine....However, when it comes to this genre of styling, you don't need to concern yourself w/ who's faster "Got the stand-alone yada yada" Most of us drive slow anywayz, unless your a CL head. Put your money where it matters to you most no matter what you decide to buy, but keep it real and buy quaility parts.

as far as the V8 goes, the 1UZ-FE is a gas gobbler (i drive an LS400, and i've averaged about 13-14mpg around town in the past week  ) but they're awesome engines as far as power is concerned. at idle, they're smooth as glass but the horsepower and torque is there when you need it.

Man, let me tell you. Look at every used car lot you can. Thanks to my girl nagging me to stop at a lot. I wouldn't have found my baby. I got my 01 gs300 in February for 15K with 59K miles with a clean record. I will post up pics when I can figure out how.

what do you guys put for gas? I have been putting premium cause its a luxury car, but do you guys use 87? or is it mandatory to use 91? let me know fellas thanx. Normally I would just pump 91 but damn if I could save some dollars right now I will, gas is $4.2x

It's recommended to use 91 for your car. Your choice, but I like to follow these types of things. It's good for your engine/performance. Just take it as an expense for driving this car.

^^ thats a good deal, bargain with them and if you trade something in its even better.

Another question to the fellas...

how long can you got ridding on an empty tank after the empty tank light comes on?

so far I have pushed it as far as about 25 miles. I just like to know little things like this, you want to know how far your cars limits go so that you are completely comfortable in it in almost any situation.

At least 40 miles. When the empty light lights up, the navigation usually says there's 40 miles left. After that, it says low fuel. And I always get my ass to a gas station when I see that so I can't tell you what happens after that.

haha, cool so I know how far I can push it, I ll set the limit at about 35 then just to be safe, I don't have navigation in mines so I just set up one of the trips to let me know how many miles I been running on the empty gallon. Thanks for the info Chrispy
