Freshly polished lips, how do I protect them?

How would I protect and clean my wheels after having the lips polished? From my understanding, the lips have a anodized layer for protection, but after polishing, the anodized layer is now gone and its just bare aluminum. is there a kind of coating to protect the lips, or would I have to have them re-anodized?

Mothers mag/aluminum polish and lots of elbow greece.  Be sure to do one section at a time until all the polish is removed other wise it will take forever to remove the polish.

you can clear coat the lips, but i personally dont like it. have them suckers chromed.

im with widebody on the polishing, unless of course u want the chrome look.
other products that will help protect the finish besides the mag polish is WheelWax and zaino zfx clear seal.

Bare polish finish without clearcoat looks great, better then chrome IMO.  The only down side is that it will take atleast 1-2 hours of elbow greece to keep them blinging like chrome and the shine only lasts 2-3 days.  You have to be really dedicated to have a bare finish.  The VW guys love this finish

Thanks. any of you guys use the mothers power ball before? I saw it while at autozone and was wondering if it would make keep them looking good a bit easier.

I use this thing everytime, and it shaves a grip of time and produces a great finish!

couple coats of wax will give a little protection but aluminum is soft so you will get minor scratches no matter what...
 
power ball works good but you will still need to use your hand/fingers for tough areas and deep scratches...

powerball didn't do jack for me. ended up having to elbow grease it after the ball.  plus i had full polished mesh wheels so between the spokes was no fun.  :P

fellows invest in zoopseal it might take a little while to do it at first but lasts along time without having to repeatedly polish. polish once then zoopseal then you wont hve to worry about it for awhile

FINALLY, I get to pick up my wheels today!!! But I don't think I'll put them on till after I give them a treatment of that zoopseal stuff. I read into it, and it looks like a very good product.

yea had it done on a set of fully polished centerlines. its the best thing ever for polished wheels

I use P21S gel wheel cleaner and Swissvax Autobahn wheel wax, the combination of these products work great for me.

I like the Flitz power ball over the Mother's.  The Mothers is too hard and the foam will deteriorate.
