don't think this is a 'true' kandy but if it is, he did it completely wrong...

word...maybe these clowns shot directly over sealer/primer....

I don't know Dom..... that paint didn't look right somehow..... I mean in the places where it actually "looked" like it was sprayed right it was nice but I don't know something irked me about the way he was shooting the paint.... but I don't know much about technique so I'll let the pros chime in! :biggthumpup:

I was looking at the related videos, and the result looks like glass! maybe not candy, but certainly a nice colour

the paint was still wet in the videos, so it will look nice. You have to wait a bit until u clear, cut n rub it to find out what it lools like. 
 
*by the looks of the shop conditions, it would prolly b safe to assume that its shot directly on primer. I cant even go into how many ways that paint job wasnt done 'right' :(

Must have had a lot of wetsanding to do afterwards, they put that paint on really thick from the looks of it even if it was a single stage

I don't even shoot primer that randomly though.... I actually flinched a bit when he started in the middle of the roof; lol

that's part of what was irking me!! he was just randomly shooting the paint in large strokes short strokes and no consistency!!!! :pat:

they may have shot over a silver base...but PROBABLY NOT. there was so much bs and soooo many wrongs in that short lil vid...:sad:

just look at where they're shooting...that should say it all...

they probably used a slow basemaker/reducer (which is the right thing to do when shooting complete and not a solid color)...so when they apply the basecoat, it will appear as if its shiny and smooth...and besides,  anything looks good from seeing it online...
 
clear coat is the money maker...too dry, plenty sanding, too wet, plenty blocking...it needs to be just right, especially when matching factory orange peel...

There are other quick videos of the car, and like Dominik said, it's not a bad job, but then again, we aren't seeing it in person.

man if that aint the truth, i went to the nisei show last year...and boy was i dissapointed at 9 out of 10 cars i really liked on the net...we started calling cars that look good in pics only honda-tech cars...cause almost all of them look like that. even local cars though...all that hype for shitty cars...i was really dissapointed.

well first of all he isn't in a booth. second if your spraying Kandy without a respirator your just plain stupid.  i could understand if your just jamming the car but he is spraying the whole thing. and for a candy job you cant spray un uniform like that. it will appear blotchy . you have to spray nice even strokes. and candy is usually sprayed over a silver or gold base and it is like a tinted clear. it takes more than one stage to get that much color. that might just be a tricoat color

theres no way thats tri coat...

that cant be candy there is no way.

not candy... too thick coming out of the gun, on the first initial spray. candy is transparent... it would take like 10 coats to make it that dark. and its basecoat/clearcoat - 2 stage, in the first video, the spray coming out of the gun is blue, in the other video of that guy, the spray coming out of the gun is whitish/rather a clearcoar.... ALL RIGHT MAACO/EARL SCHEIB!!! actually this guy probably sprays better than them, this guy took the time to tape up, and is using clearcoat.... but maaco/scheibs wouldve gotten it done faster with 2-3 guys spraying at the same time.... lol

some people can spray good even not doing the proper technique. painting is more of a personal feel kinda thing. 

i rember fucken painting a car, had my respirator off for like 2 mins to talk, and i was high as a mutha fugga.

and i would paint in long even strokes rather then stop in the middle. but the color is dope.. and i wouldent try to paint to cover on the first shot as that is how you create runs.

but i havent sprayed kandy before :(

stopping in the middle of a panel isn't necessarily a bad thing...

i've painted over 100...only 9 or 10 completes though...

i only have two completes under my belt and like 6 partials with blend to make it look right I NEVER STATED I WAS A PRO hahahahaahha i'm an amatuer fo sho!!!

I painted my own.

i dont paint i do bodywork. and prep for paint. i have painted fenders hoods tailgates jammed cars stuff like that but never painted a complete car

This guy was actually on our forums when I first joined. He was selling it shortly after, but it was a pretty clean car. Had a LV interior that I didn't hate, and some really well done mods, even if it's not all my style.:biggthumpup:

LOL... Def not Base and clear. Definately sucks at painting. I dont understand why he was working on 1/4th of the roof. He should of went from the front windshield all the way to the rear . Looks like Urethane paint.
