paint options

okay my brother works for paint place so i have alot of options. the car is going black again but i was thinkin of adding flake. not lowrider style but just a little so if u look close at it. I was thinking gold but not sure if itd work with silver wheels and chrome pieces. They have something called gold effects that is like a gold hue. straight on it looks black but in sun it gives off gold hue on top of paint. they also have it in silver which i thought would look good. Or i can go crystalline flake that shine like litle diamonds in the paint but i dont want it to be to ostentatious. Let me hear what u guys think and oh yea PANCAKES sell me your kit, haha!!!

my experiences with black w/ gold pearl, comes out looking bronze... even with a pearl which you can only see from a side angle, it still looks bronze. black with say a gunmetal pearl looks gunmetal itself... anything over black looks like some other color. do you have any other colors you we thinking of painting your car or you wanna stick with black? i can understand sticking with a color the car is already cuz its less work, you dont have to paint the jambs again... i usually tell my friends when i respray their cars is to pick a color it doesnt come in, that way itll stand out from the other.... but in this case, for VIP, a solid color will do....

like he said anything u put on top of black will change the over all look of the car. any pearl on top of the black will make it look like that at an angle, if thats what your looking then go for it. i would just go for a nice deep black, from another make. i never liked the infiniti/nissan blacks.

this guy is talking about FLAKE, not pearl...

yes, pearl makes the color look milky or 'dirty'...takes away from the richness/depth of a solid color...

flake is nice if you're into that kind of thing...personally, i don't care for it...black is nice as it is...i painted harly fenders and tank solid black with green microsequence and it came out pretty badass...i didn't put a lot of flake in it so it didn't distract too much from the base coat...

lexus black is pretty much as black as your gonna get...its a jet black...no blue or violet inside...just black...

the flake i think you're talking about is called micro sequence...if you're gonna go that route, make sure you have a guy who knows how to spray it...its not hard to spray...most guys (who really want to do a good job) use ball bearings in their cup and shake it up every once and a while...i have an agitator siphon cup/gun so it mixes the clear as i'm spraying to lay out the flake evenly...
you can spray micro sequence with a 1.4 tip but 1.5 would be better...1.8 i think would prolly be ideal...

as soon as you lay your base, 2 coats micro sequence, let it set up real good, then 3 coats to burry... careful though, you're gonna be putting on a LOT of clear so sags and runs most likely cannot be avoided...
