I used to be REALLY militant about this, but I came to the realization a few years ago that getting upset about what people think/say isn't doing anything but raising my blood pressure. I set the best example I can and let people judge me for me. I didn't find the video funny at all, but you all can continue to laugh. EDIT: Now with all that said, there was OBVIOUSLY something wrong with her...Most people have respect for old people. She looked like she had ADHD or something. The subtitles is what made it funny to me. It wouldn't matter to me what color her skin is or who she prays to or any of that. I have no control over what people post as comments on you tube, there's a lot of ignorant people in this world. It seems the internet brings out some very interesting sides to them as well. I know you weren't focusing your rant towards me, but since I posted the video, I figured I'd chime in to give you my $0.02 on the matter. Stereotypes are unfortunate..but there's not much we can do about them. It's all in how we handle ourselves..like you said. You know, to set the right example.

Stereotypes are a natural development of the human psyche. Helps us process information faster. It's to speak your mind and associate with like individuals. It seems more of us have things in common than we thought. I'm from Philly originally. Yes, Sicilian..I was the minority. There was all the white kids, all the black kids.,..then me, the guy always getting asked if I just came back from vacation (year round tan..haha). I got razzed by both sides of the coin..but ultimately it let me know who were the good people and who weren't..and that breed was a mix of nearly every ethnicity. So to me, there's no such thing as race really..it's just ignorance and intelligence. You've got one...or you've got the other. My friends of all ethnicities all razz each other..but like you said..we're all intelligent people who only joke about the stereotypes because we know it's ignorance. One of my fellow rescue swimmers at my last squadron was black and HE was the one always cracking the swim jokes. I had to teach nearly 50 kids at boot camp how to swim...85% were black. But when I asked where they came from, I knew why. Where the hell were they supposed to learn how to swim? Haha, so it wasn't their fault. But people still assume things and pass judgment..but it is happening less. I wasn't exactly helping to stop stereotypes in high school..was working at a pizza joint..haha. And yes, my trunk is big enough to fit 4 dead bodies. I see what you're saying about kids..but if you bring your kids up right and show them the difference..they'll be just fine. Kids will help one another get past it as well. We can learn so much from them. I mean look how different things are these days and how much that whole angle is changing. With so many interracial couples (like half of us on this forum..myself included), soon we'll all be beige!! :smiley-rofl: But again..that's just my opinion and where I sit with things.
