Was just reading an article about Gas pricing and wondered what everyone was paying??

Mike Flannery CHICAGO (CBS) ― Tired of seeing the price at the pump jump every time you need to buy gasoline? Well, the record-high price of gasoline in the Chicago area is linked to a record-high rate of taxation: nearly 20 percent of the Chicago price. 
 
As CBS 2 Political Editor Mike Flannery reports, tax refugees wait in long lines on Indianapolis Boulevard in Northwest Indiana. They jockey for position at a pump, lured by prices that are 20 cents a gallon or more cheaper than just a few blocks away back in Illinois. 
"It was $4.20. I can come over here and get it for $3.93," said Tikvah Wadley, one of the many fleeing Illinois taxes. 
 
[COLOR=orange]Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin complained to oil company bosses at a hearing on Capitol Hill about Chicago having the highest gasoline prices in the United States. Largely ignored was the role taxes are playing -- an astounding 10 levels of taxation. [/COLOR]
 
"Does it trouble any of you when you see what you're doing to us?"  Durbin asked.. 
In the city, Motor Fuel Taxes originally for building roads currently go to the Feds, Illinois, Cook County and Chicago. The 9.25 percent sales tax is split among Illinois, Chicago and Cook County's share of the state sales tax; a county home rule tax; RTA transit tax and a Chicago home rule levy. 
 
[COLOR=orange]The watchdog Civic Federation says that on a $4 gallon of gas, the total tax is 79.2 cents. That compares to 77 cents in Los Angeles and 65 cents in New York City.[/COLOR] 
 
"Every time the price of gas goes up, the tax goes up with it," said one motorist. 
And that, of course, is exactly the point for the politicians. [COLOR=yellow]Gov. Blagojevich, for example, is[/COLOR] [COLOR=yellow]counting on the high price of gasoline to bring at least an extra $220 million in the State Treasury[/COLOR] [COLOR=yellow]in the fiscal year that begins this July.[/COLOR] Most of that will be used to balance the way-out-of-balance budget.

In San Diego im paying 4.21 for 91

I put 87 in my box hahaha. $45 fillup approx for 13 gallon tank.

it takes me about 80-90 to fill up my 21 gal tank with 91....

it cost me about 70 at the most on 91
 
I usally fill up when I get down to 1/4 tank, and I spend a little over $50 a week for gas....
 
It does get pretty depressing to think about!

the really shitty thing about paying $80-$90 for a tank is that I only get about 430 MPG per tank and thats mostly highway miles.

its 3.85 for 91 chevron here in utah this morning. Of course it takes $30 to fill up my girls civic w/85=)

By my new house, its about $4.40 a gallon but I just use the trains.  Thats the best part of NYC.  You can get anywhere you want by train and only pay $4 round trip for a metrocard.  Its also quicker by train since there is no traffic.  If I lived anywhere else, I wouldn't be able to be without a car for months at a time

$3.85/Gal for 87 @ Costco. Spent pennies shy of $120 to fill up the 32 gallon tank in my Suburban. :signdammit:

The 13/17 mpg I get out of this bitch is the killer! :sad:

This topic makes me want to get a civic again... I have even been contemplating buying this guys '92 SI and pulling out the B16 and putting a VX motor in it for a DD...:eek5spin:

$80 for 19 gallons for 91.

I saw $4.63 for 91 in Downtown LA a few days ago and the prices have risen about 10 cents since then so i can only imagine it now

It takes my Y50 about $70-$90 for the 18 gallon tank, I only get around 300 for my mileage be cause even on Hwys here there is so much traffic it's like I'm driving local everywhere

Hahaha I just bought a civic....$40 fill up and 35mpg.... i love it.... it's only costs me $10 a day compared to $25+ in my q

4.11 @ 12 gallon $50 Bucks for half a tank a week.
use to 35 buck/half tank. fuck... damn v6 engine :D

91 @ 4.29 at the local 76 station

i rather not know.. i just wanna stick my card in the machine pump my gas and leave without looking at the pump! ahahaha

Yeah but there's a difference between bitching about gas, and not being able to afford gas. They'll raise it as high as possible as long as people keep paying for gas. Once people can't, then they'd have to level it or start lowering the prices. People bitch but don't do anything, others don't know what to do. Me? I started driving smart. LOL, SLOWED THE FUCK DOWN in other words. Driving the speed limit for once, and keeping light on the pedal has netted me a few more MPG. I need to do a tune up and stuff too, that'll help.
 
As far as gas, I paid 4.15 the other day for 91 octane. I do like Oscar does and when the car gets down to about 1/4 tank, and costs about 55-60 bucks. Been the same amount give or take a few dollars for the longest time. Funny, I remember when my mom was bitching about how gas was shooting up from 1.50-2.00 a gallon, now look at us, we'd LOVE to see that 2.00 a gallon again.

In Montreal, gas was last seen @ 1.399$CAD/liter. 
With the current conversion rate (1.01574 USD/CAD, Oanda - 05/23/2008 @ 11:30) ,  that's 1.4209 per liter, [B]5.379 USD/gallon[/B].

Just under 100USD for a fillup.

i try to drive less and drive slower. i drive hella slow anyway.

its crazy cuz i only live 5 miles away from work but i still fill up every week.  i still havent figured it out.

i thought my girls s2000 got bad gas, but i just recently calculated it up and that thing gets almost 30 mpg.  i didnt realize it had a tiny ass gas tank.

Diesel went up to 5.05 here. premium is 4.27.

4.31 yesterday at Shell for 91

Before the weekend it cost me $4.52 a gallon for premium.

guys in aus i'm paying $1.70 for a litre of 98 octane if my maths is correct which it wont be. thats $7.70 aus to a gallon

JeffTsai on CL just switched his car over to e85, and says he's paying less than the price for regular!

Too bad he's turbo and could actually use the fuel lol.

too bad e85 burns faster and he prolly uses it up even quicker prolly.

Yeah but he's running like 650hp or something, so it's not that much of a deal to burn gas lol. He did it for the performance aspect. Still though...cheaper gas...he has to use ~25-30% more fuel to compensate for less BTU's. If the price difference makes up for it, think about it. using ~105 octane fuel (think price of race gas) compared to premium, with a price lower than regular fuel, he's probably breaking even...

yeah we have a few lil hondas out here running e85...they think its so much better on their wallets till they realize its not lol. its all the same when it comes down to it.

Just put 17.5 gallons in @ 4.29 for Chevron 91.  ~$75 bucks to fill up  SUCKS.

Higher gas prices = Less traffic
My drive to and from work has been 15-30 mins. less compared to a year ago....I barely hit traffic unless theres an accident. I wonder what it'll be like when gas hits $5+ a gallon....

I figure no matter what I need gas so it's whatever....

Thats one thing I havn't missed about driving since March, rising gas prices.

Hope you've been saving up gangsta, because even though your headlights are baller, the gas guzzling isn't!!! lol, i'm glad i got an inline 6 instead of an 8...i'd hate to feel your guy's pain from more gas in the tank...

Gas guzzling is baller, I just remembered about my favorite Bentley Arnage T, which gets 8 miles to the gallon.

Between gas and the $10 toll that I have to pay everyday to leave the island that my new house is on, I wont be driving much.  Only to the park, gym and going out on weekends

$0, perks of not having a car and one of the best public transportation systems I have ever seen. Yeah for Taiwan! I spend around 30USD a month for transportation. I am not looking forward to going home.
