pulling my headlight apart

Okay im about to pull my headlights on my 2000 q45 apart to do something different with them. dont know what yet but cars being painted so i figured id play around with some things.  any tips.  did u guys heat them up to pull them apart? if so i know u can put them in oven on low for few mins to soften material up. did u completely disassemble them or use heat gun. any advice would be helpful

i open my q45 headlights 2002-2005 it was quite easy , put theme in the oven for about 12 to 15 minutes at 280 temp , try and see if the oem seal becomes really soft just use a flathead screw driver to open in between the housing and lens they try to stick you fingers and pull apart if the seal is soft it should be soft to pull apart if it not put theme in the oven again until it becomes soft , same way you open theme you put theme back together you just have to use some type of plyers to build pressure and leave theme for a few minutes until the seal becomes hard again be careful some headlights like my year Q have a few screws in the back that need to be remove not sure about you headlights but i have open about 10 sets of headlights on my project cars to do different things anyways let us know how it comes out .

i use a heat gun... but both ways work. just heat it until the sealant is soft, be careful not to melt/warp anything, and don't force it.

i highly suggest using a heat gun, slowly softening the seal is much better than the possibility of leaving them in the oven for too long and warping the whole thing.
