skipper dont make shit its all off the shelf parts from the states. All you need is a manifold and some 300cc acumulaters to do the same thing. Maybe cost you a grand for all that in the US

It's definitely going to be more than a grand for a 1 pump 8 dump manifold with accumulators, etc. More around $1500+.

http://www.catalog.prohopper.com/product_info.php?cPath=45_80&products_id=193

$825 before upgrading to Parker check valves and slow downs, and competition cylinders. Then add accumulators (~$400), batteries, and additional hardware.

1 pump 4 dumps 4 acums and regular cylinders is all you need ( most fbss 2 pump black setups run 495 plus 200 for chrome or anadise, so return one pump and buy 4 accums). If you think your getting anything competition ( Whats a Comp cylinder anyways other than a extra oring )from skipper smoke some more crack. Its all off the shelf US parts repakaged. And yes you can do it for a g. There also used to be a setup that was complete with the batt for 895 a few years back in the lowrider mag.

Loud? No air compressor rumbling for minutes, and no sound of air releasing when dumped...but sure it makes sounds going up. I'd say a wash...

DXJP - I think you're wrong. The accumulators in the photos are nothing like I've seen here in the US and a manifold? Nobody makes those anymore here that I know of and Skippers looks nothing like the PH version. Also you need 5-8 dump valves to have capabilities to have FBSS from a pacaked position. You know a manifold is 8 dumps, not just 4....

A a comp cylinder is a double seal, with double teflon wiper PLUS a polypak seal - (not just an extra o-ring). DXJP, where are you getting all this information from that makes you think you're a hydraulic expert?

How about the 15 plus years of building hydro. Or the fact that skipper is just down the friggin road from me. ANd yeah I know all cylinders come with a PAIR oring's or X ring's and teflon wipers I HAVE PROBOBLY CHANGED A THOUSAND OF THEM. These set ups run on 12 volts so they dont hop infact their slower than air so they dont need (Comp) cylinders. The accums in the pics sell for around a 100 US in japan with out a cert and come in 100cc 300cc and 500cc which can be bought threw a local SMC or KTC dealer in the states, and are pre charged at 25kp. The screw togeather can be rebuilt but are not road legal in japan. You also need to run a spring to get the best ride because the accum maxes out and then your system goes hard.

You also dont need a manifold you can do it with five dumps and the right wireing and check valves. Do you really think skipper just dreamed this up on their own. I know for a fact there isnt an original idea in japan. By the way TUFF by way of TS Duel had the first manifold set up in japan they got it from TS duel who had it made in China who copied it from PORKY's in Illinois. Anything else you need to be schooled on.

So people wonder why Im not on this forum

You're wrong again.

1) Competition cylinders have nothing to do with hopping, it's about longevity of the cylinder itself. 2) The accumulator does max out when locked up, but are you saying that the coils won't compress when max out either? You don't need springs because in the accumulators are nitrogen which compresses as oil does not 3) They are screwed together because they are bladders...most road vehicles in the US run diaprams which are produced in germany and are ran from 10-20 cubic inches. 4) Porky's in Illinois were running all fennerstone...manifolds were not "invented" for vehicle use (only industrial use). 5) I know you can use 5 dumps (that's my car pictured below with 5 dumps) and you say "right wiring and check valves" (which you spelled wrong BTW) , but a 5 dump system only uses 1 check valve. 6) You say these systems run on 12v, but pictured below is a skipper on 24v 7) Not road legal in Japan...uh, what is that supposed to mean an what does that have anything to do with what we're talking about?

When it comes to hydraulics I have 'over' 15 years experience with them....you'll never school me. I'd be happy to educate you if you'd like.

First of all porky used stone heads and delta dumps, by way of his wifes father at delta.

2 pro hopper came out with the three ring what 4 years ago
3 skipper sells the kit with 1 battery standard, and duh on the nitrogen but you still can only displace the total volume in the acumm chamber. Have you even used one of these?
4 would you like the number to them to call and see who the fuck I am
5 like I said you can build the same damn thing for about a g. Sorry that crushed your ego

OK...let's break a few things down here shall we?

If we are talking about a NICE setup, and not half-ass garbage, you are not paying $495 for a two pump setup. It's just not happening. On top of that, one would make an immediate upgrade to Parker check valves and competition cylinders, increasing the price. Competition cylinders you've already heard about, and no, you cannot build THAT setup as Skipper is showing for a "g."

Maybe cost you a grand for all that in the US
You are referred to building THEIR setup for UNDER a "g." Their setup uses Parker slowdowns, an eight dump manifold, accumulators, and an Optima battery. No way in hell that is happening...

You also forget to mention all the other miscellaneous items involved that creep the price up more and more (cable wiring, fabricating a pump rack and battery rack, other fabrication, etc.).

I want people to be properly informed, and not think they are getting into a project for cheap and getting in way over their heads, or building a half-ass setup prone to breaking. There is a reason why hydraulics have a bad wrap, I am one of those people trying to stop it...

Your analogy is similar to that of seeing a picture of a Ferrari, and saying you can build a Fiero kit car for 1/4 of the price.

Actualy yes they can. and do I need to post part numbers and who to contact to do it for a G or should I just put my sward away. As well the slow down is built in the manifold.

And one final point. The reason I post here is so people dont get missled but hey I dont have to post either.

Here is a little demonstration of the ride quality with accumulators (Dukes of Hazard Style). GS, go to layitlow.com or streetsource.com as you'll likely be able to find a local shop near you on there.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! :smiley-rofl:
That video don't show nuthin! LOL!

Anyone could make a video rollin fully dumped or ride hieght and say the ride is excellent!

What I did see though is alot of wheel movement to each dip/bump in the road and when it comes to riding low you don't want this!

But this is a debate which will neve be solved so whatever!

That's the thing. Some people aren't trying to ride super low. It's not that you can't park it low or cruise low, but everyday hustle and bustle people would probably ride higher than normal.

Your pics show that, too.

When you're on the highway you're a lot higher (usually an Inch to an inch and a half given the sizeof you car/wheels) than your "ride height" pics from other places like the Online Article you had written about you, and the "boring sunday" pics you posted.

OCKlasse Showed his ride height in another thread. He was about stock with his ride height (presumably to keep from scratching his kit on everything) and completely clowns on Air with his locked up position, and can sit lower than most people.

I like Air quite a bit, but I also like Hydraulics. Just comes down to personal preference. My plan is to do something similar to the EDM W140 S600...=)

trefive:

That video was perfect man, I've been trying to see the ride on accumulators for a VERY long time. i've only seen them clowning at shows. Most people i deal with are "tunerz" or racers so they don't give much credence to adjustable suspension systems.
What pressure accumulators do you have installed on that prelude?

Hydros are great for long travel and parking low and driving high. Very comfortable, I have been in a few cars with them. Its all preference. I prefer to drive low, the pics of my car are my drive height, I drive at that height everywhere, not for any other reason besides its the most comfortable PSI to drive at.

And the handling when it comes to hydros on a car with independant suspension leaves ALOOOT to be desired.

+1 to this post:

Most of the time, I ride a little lower than stock height...why? I want to be able to drive my car normally mostly. I like not getting rockchips on the freeway, having always excessive tire wear, and having to slowly go over speed bumps, etc. Most of the time, I like to just not care when I'm driving.

Now this is not to say that when I'm somewhere where I know I'm going straight and low, I don't dump it (typically down PCH I'm always tucking rim in the back). It's cool to roll dumped sometimes, but it's something that I don't abuse. Most of the time, I could care less if people think my car's lowered or not...but I always put it down all the way when parked

Wow hydros. i remember them back in the day. My bro had 2 Red's Hydro chrome pumps. i think it was called reds. they were one of the best back in the day. i dont think he ever got them installed though. i think he still has them too. haha.

I think both has there goods and bads. my preference is air. its a little easier to maintain. Plus if the bag blows you can still drive the car. I remember when the cylinders go in the hydros they slam to the ground. but that maybe back then. they might have improved. but still i would go air.

Nice set ups regardless!!

Question about this...

Is that a necessity. I'm under the impression that it is bad to park with fluid in the cylinders and pressure in the lines. I read that it makes it far more easy for the cylinder to "spring a leak" through the seals.

Is there any truth to this or is it anti-accumulator rhetoric??

Let's put it this way: Someone I know had to let his gf drive his juiced car for a little while and after a few months of leaving it up the entire time, it was fine.
