weight of forged wheel vs cast wheel

same size, same dimension, same everything.

only difference being material used, about how much weight savings are we looking at ?

Find out the weight of the Linea Corse Lemans wheel, then go compare the same sized wheel to the BBS LM's. Same wheels, same design, same size, the knockoff linea wheel is cast, and the bbs LM's are forged I believe.

Just trying to offer you a solution to your question. Find a wheel that is both cast and forged, then compare the weight then. Again, calling the manufacturer is probably going to be the best way to go about this predicament. Most people on this forum aren't going to have two sets of the same wheels, yet one be cast and one be forged. Good luck with finding the answer to your question.

lol damn.. sounds like he was just giving you some pointers to figure out your question.

i dont think anyone will know the answer to that question, because its all relative to size, dimensions, design, etc like you listed. maybe you shouldnt be looking at the weight difference, but rather the percentage difference between cast and forged wheels?

just know that there's more to it than just this single post of his. However it's not even worth talking about.


back to topic:

weight wasn't a concern for me as I've used and have owned many many sets of wheels.

after a while, u want to try new things and move on to the fully forged world of wheels. Most of us know what forged and cast is, however not much of us really know what the weight benefits are. Is it enough of a weight difference to fork out the extra cash ? there are many factors to it and learning more about it will help all of us and set aside fact from fiction.

Some wheels that you may think are "forged" will have forged lips and cast faces.
 
Some benifits would be improved mpg and better brake response

More likely to bend or dent as well

ya that's the thing, are forged wheels really what they say it is ? they sure seem to bend just as easily, if not easier than cast.

Some dents/bends can be easier to take out than cracking your barrel like with a cast wheel. You also may be able to drive on a bend after hitting a pot hole, with maybe a slow leak, where if that cast wheel were to crack, you'd be losing air like crazy. I think fabulous wheels have cast inner barrels with forged outter barrels. Oscar are your AME's cast or forged?

I have driven on bare rim for miles, throwing sparks everywhere after a blowout on many occasions and only once bent a rim.  I have witnesses too.  Not all cast wheels are created equally.
