Tire durability and azenis 115 stretch??

Hey guys,
I have what may be 2 pretty dumb questions and i hope you guys can help me out.

OK, so about 3 years ago, I bought a set of 19x8.5 inch wheels with 225/35 falken azenis st 115s. Tires were maybe driven on for a month by the guy I bought them from, so near 100%

So, about 6 months after getting them, (they were stored in my basement, a little cold, but nothing extreme) I had them mounted and balanced, and within 40 miles, one of the rear tires blew out at the sidewall. I stored the tires and wheels, and just pulled them out again recently.

Should these tires still be ok??? What could have caused the blowout, and what concerns should I have about them now??

Also, if these tires are ok, what tire would have about the same stretch as the st115s, again, 225/35/19 on a 19x8.5 inch wheel??

Thanks in advance guys, I've been lurking here for a while, and I love it here!!!

Almost 3 years without flexing of the rubber probably hardened it, not sure though. You sure your pressure wasnt low?

I don't think the pressure was low, I had the tires mounted and balanced at NTB..

I also think it was due to them being stored.

I have had 225/35/19 ST115 on 19x9.5 with no problems. Currently I 215/35/19 ST115 on 19x8.5 all around on my KA9. I hit a really bad piece of uneven concrete in the first week and damaged the sidewall but otherwise they have been fine.

had 225/35/19 on a 19x9. They were great! Perfect stretch and lasted a long time.

yeah, I had the same problem with my ST115. I stored it for a while and one of my tires became flat! (after inflating it) and drove on it..and damaged the tire.
