Can dump valves be routed back into the tank?

I was wondering if you can route the dump valves back info the tank. Seems like it would reuse the air keep the compressors from working so hard. Also would be much quieter. Any problems with doing this?

Also anyone using silencers for the dump valves? Mine are kinda loud and they scare small children when I roll by the high schools.

nope..

Tank is under pressure. takes more pressure to fill it than the air thats being released.

Works for hydraulics...but air needs to be under pressure to fill the tank

SHhhhhhhhhh. ;)

After I made this thread I realized the compressors would go to max pressure and dumping the valves would add even more pressure. And that's bad. But that's not why it wouldn't work anyway.

My dump valves are currently routed to the outside of the car. Any cons to dumping the air into the trunk? Does it get dusty or anything?

seems like the only way it would work is if you dumped the air back into a smaller-separate tank that is not under pressure and routed that back into the inlet/vacum side of the compressor

Hmm, sounds like more trouble than it's worth.

Off topic, but you need to cut those holes and let me know what happens. My control arms are slamming against the top again. And my CDs are skipping.

Dumping into the trunk is fine, just makes it loud inside the car instead of outside the car. Friend has them dumped in the trunk of his GTI and they are deafening.... A firewall ill silence it some but still, Id rather have people hear them outside the car and me enjoy the quite of the luxury car I purchased.

I do not like the silencers .
They work great and now my 4 month old daughter screams for any loud noise from me deflating when we get home and she is sleeping. I want to get something again to make it. Problem is by keeping the mufflers in it was not allowing water to be expelled from the system. So as it was being slowed down by the mufflers it did not shoot it out the valves and caused it to collect . So when winter hit i was all frozen solid even with a water trap.

I may make a canister and route the 4 lines to it out side the car.

OFFTOPIC

You can put methanol in the tank to keep the water from freezing. I watched IceTruckers and thats what they use, to keep their air brake lines from freezing.
