US version of "King of Sedan?"

I was thinking the other day, how cool would it be if we all setup a huge unified VIP show once a year?  It would have to be some where in Cali because most of the vip cars are on the west coast.
 
This would help bring unity to the vip communittee and it would also make people go all out for this event (results in more money for the vendors).  Maybe even charge a small fee to show (like $25) for the local guys and part of the money collected can go towards getting the cross country troopers a discount on a hotel room for a night.

I dont think they would raise enough to cover that but it would be great to have those guys come down too. For one day, people could put their differences aside and all show up at the same show and admire each others cars :biggthumpup:

id be down and im more than sure most of the houston cats could be counted in too. i had this idea a few weeks ago but i was thinking vegas but its too fkn hot in the godamn desert lol.

Supras invade Las Vegas happens once a year, why not have a vip cars invade Las Vegas once a year?

we should have a HUGE ass meetup in socal(sd area)

yay. if this happens. i will have to start buying parts.

AF meets in SoCal usually have about 25-35 people. Same with NorCal meets. Add the club Lexus guys that have vip inspired rides in Cali that dont post much on here, the guys from Vegas, Arizona, Washington (if they are dedicated) and all the rest of the states and this can easily reach 65-120 cars.
 
I would love to see someone step up to the plate and help set this up :biggthumpup:

Ok first and foremost we need a venue large enough to hold our VIPness hahahaahahaaha.
 
I'm down to help get this to happen, we just need to make sure it's more than just one person, and that everyone man's up (or woman's up), and we get this done...... now on venues available i know of the pomona fairplex and irwindale speedway... issue is we need to rent these places or is everyone thinking of park action with permits?

healz yeah! maybe even get big names like Sessions, Jp , kbreak...etc. to sponser the show.  And just LIke D1 get them to ship there cars. man id love to see the Kbreak car.  lets do this.

Why even have it at a facility? We can just hit up some place with a parking lot and pay the permit. We're not that big to have it at a facility yet. In regards to Vegas, man thats going to be a good gas trip. Plus, we already have a yearly gathering at Autofashion or some place in Socal for the Junction Produce event after SEMA.

When is that?

Well SEMA is held usually the first week of November. This year its from 11/4 - 11/7. Junction Produce usually does a meet the following weekend.

would be dope to have an event... the 808 guys would have to figure out shipping tha whips out to the mainland but well-worth it i'm sure... i just shipped my buddy's aristo (dirtyGS) up via matson for $1134... damn!!!

Yikes. Thats how much they are charging me too but im further. Im sure if you can get a few more cars with you, it would be cheaper

I forgot about the issues with pomona faggplex, understood...... well we could always talk to local spots like SAB in OC or the new one in WestCo..... hell we can even try and lease out a parking garage somewhere for the weekend :biggthumpup: and I don't care how you do it Robert but you'll have to bring your ride hahahahahahahaha

all honesty, I would love to have one in a place like CA speedway, where we can just use a parking lot.  Hell, even a place like Qualcomm Stadium in SD where we can just take over a LARGE section of the parking lot...

I'm down for the cause and willing to help set it up...... :biggthumpup: If we do it in the L.A. SoCal area it would make it easier of course for me to do the legwork I also have dealt with the Irwindale Management in the past so talking to them about a possible lease for a weekend is possible just to get an idea for costs and requirements

i think the post sema idea is good. i'm going to try and finish my car by sema so hanging out an extra week and doing the vip (style =)) thing sounds good.

seriously, if the houston guys come out...  get the nor cal guys... im sure So cal will come out... Vegas to come out...

i would say try to expand the jp event into this so ppl coming that way for sema could just hang out a couple days extra and attend.

ive already booked up my vacation for this year...but im sure it will be held on a wknd so i can just fly out...unless we do this sometime after christmas.

but yeh, sounds like a great idea. we can have vendors rent booth space and have a show for best VIP.

Im there whereever it is!

I know i'm bias to Qualcomm, but they do have a grip of parking to support this idea....Although it would be a great event, i'm still skeptical about it actually crackin off.

Would definitely be interesting. Maybe a more realistic goal would be for next spring, so you have a year to figure it out and coordinate it. That way you have a huge turn out and agi coul finally have his car finished.. LOL

Is there enough people to support a show like that?

We have 11-12k members. 

We have a few hundred active members, with decent cars. 

Take those few hundred members and bring their cars out, in one gathering, we may not be up to King of Sedan festival's par, but we'd have a once a year HUGE meet instead of just a regional show. This should be a bangin' meet when it comes together.

What about half way Santa Barbara is only 3 to 4 hours away from both Nor Cal and SoCal and in between Hawaii and New York  we could all meet up in the middle. We have here the Earl Warren Showgrounds with huge parking lots perfect for a meet, BMW has their  BimmerFest here once a year attracting 2 to 300 BMW's and minis with vendors and booths. The weather is always 74 degrees here and sunny  and you got the beach right next door for a VIP cruize. Let me know im willing to help???

sounds like a good idea...to bad I live in Chicago. It would be a far drive.

It has to start somewhere.  The following year, more and more people will want to attend.  People will see how close the vip guys are and they will want to take part of this culture.  
 
 
Its not required that we ALL bring our cars.  Just showing up is good enough (assuming there are atleast 60 cars)

personally.... I would love to see a large out of state turnout as well when it comes to vehicles.... it would help solidify the point to event sponsors and potential vendors that we have that type of draw and die hard commitment in this community. but that's just me i guess :biggthumpup:

If the local out of towners all work together, im sure you can work with the towing companies to get discounts to get your cars towed all at once :shrug:
 
 
Guys, the vip thing to do would be to get your cars towed to this event. We are turning soft. A few years ago, guys would brag about how they messed up their kits and had them repaired and painted the same day because that was the vip thing to do lol

dudes if this would crack off by next spring or something like that i would try my hardest to get some more mods done to my Q buy a trailer and tow my shit to wherever it will be all the way from the A, this kind of show is exactly what the US vip scene needs

+1...i mean, if the supras can do it...why cant we? i remember when the supras first started coming to houston...it wasnt that many of them...all street racing...shit was fun...now its so many supras you see them all over the place with all kinds of plates.

I know for a fact that as Admins we are truly behind this happening and will make it happen, our Moderating staff in my opinion is the best, and they know how to pull through when needed, so with their expert help this is a reality waiting to happen!!!!

I'll help with as much as I can. Been working carshows for almost 9 years now. But this year is going to be crazy because sister is getting married in L.A. on November 22, organizing SF Autoshow again Nov 22 to 29, and graduating the following week. :pat: Either way, I'll help out as much as possible.

Edit:  Anyone that needs to travel, I think we have a pretty decent hook up on some car transports.  The only thing is, you have to send at least 4 cars per trip.  Dunno if that helps anyone.

So far to date the biggest events have been the JP meet right after SEMA. That one is perfect just change the location and every year it will get bigger.  Every Year in NOV for the event. 
 
PLUS side of it everyone wants thier car picture in the VIP magazine:smiley-rofl:

your Chassis is considered VIP way more than some peoples "VIP" cars

1. My car is presentable by then
2. I can afford to go at that time

I'm still in a transitional period, I can't guarantee what will happen half a year from now.

This is a great idea, I vote for next spring as well, a year advance is definitely a lot of time to get the word out and many people can start or finish up their cars.

next spring/summer would be great. gives everyone time to get there shit together. i wouldnt mind being a part of the planning.

i know of guys that ship their cars from hawaii to be in SEMA. i would do it but its like $1055 to ship one way, round trip, 2x's...? OMG.... i can only dream and support this to the fullest. maybe by the time this event has gotten bigger and bigger, ill have moved out to cali or vegas, with both my cars, towed by my truck.... hahaha

i agrre that the jp event is already the perfect event to make this happen. people want to move it back to spring so they can be ready [I]this year[/I], but i think we should look further into the future. being right after sema will probably provide a larger number of cars.
 
i would even consider holding it in vegas if a venue is available. i know the vip hotspot is cali, and i'm not real familiar with the west coast, but just by looking at a map the distance looks similar to the norcal/socal travel. that'd also make it a little closer for the rest of us.
 
i really think post-sema is the way to go. its a long drive for some of us, not to mention the guys that have to ship their cars. 2k for sema and a vip festival in one lick doesn't so so bad. 4k for the same thing a couple of months apart kinda sounds unr4easonable.
 
on the mag coverage tip, won't most of these guys be here for sema anyway? might be a stepping stone for stateside coverage.

The week after Sema is the way to go. If your not ready this year, no big deal, you can still come down to hang out and then next November you can bring your car when and if its ready.
 
If its held in the spring, that might conflict with some car shows and some of these guys have to attend car shows to keep the sponsors happy so lets be respectful to them as well.
 
I never knew the post Sema event went on every year. I just thought it happened a couple of times. Then again, I rarely buy vip magazines

Between San Fran and San Dog  LA area or Vegas would be good every year. Lots of VIP guys go to this that DO NOT come on this forum.

You dont need to buy the magazine the guys that go always post up pics on here from all the past events. The last one was held in San Diego before that was in LA a few times

How can we have it the week after SEMA?  I dont wanna be in Vegas, then have to leave back to Houston only to come back a week later :-/   Doesnt make too much sense to me.

the idea would be to make it an extended vacation. have the event sat the 8th or sun the 9th that way as soon as sema is done you head to the vip event and head home. 6 days max.

I'd drive to Vegas for SEMA and a big VIP meet if they are in the same week.

Ah, I c.  We can have it like on the day after sema is over.  Just stay an extra couple days in Vegas.  Im down for that.  I could talk to my host and see if we can figure out some group discount on some suites or something.
