New Here - Just want to get the F50 Done

[LEFT]Hello VIP folks:wavey:. Purchased an F50 few months ago. White exterior, tan interior fully loaded model. Put 20x8.5 front 20x10 back 35 conservativve offset. Not 3 piece wheels though did not know this site existed then:pat:. Would have def bought from here though. Swift springs right now in front. Will be putting rears on next week and lowering the front more. Already posted in intro thread but will reiterate here again. Looking for new suspension! Would love bags but not that knowledgable about them. Used to coilovers on other applications and looked for them....Found 2  ....$2550 for a set of insurance co's, a good name but very expensive and comparable in price to the bags on this forum. So why not just get bags?? Definately need some help then....So hopefully the powers that be here can here can help! Heres the picsForum image

Thank you Widebody!! Yours is amazing the changes you go through on a regular basis are astonishing. The new bently conversion looks like it belongs. Your F50 is one we all should aspire to.

Thanks.

Ok to answer some of your questions:

There actually are alot of different coilover choices for this car in Japan. They are expensive. Some of the cheaper ones will charge a core charge meaning you have to send them your stock struts or you pay an additional $500. Thats a waste because shipping your struts to Japan will even out the costs to the other coilovers that dont ask for a core exchange.

As far as bags go, you have to remember that the install does take time(2-5 days) and if your not doing it yourself, you will have to pay alot of money for the install. Almost as much as the Universal Air system its self.

Universal will not work for you because you have the sport suspension. I had alot of trouble with this setup because the stock sport struts are not made to be driven on that low. I had a strut crack on me so then I went with a fully custom air suspension. You would have to swap out your struts to the non sport suspension struts in order for UAS to work. At the end, you will say to your self "man, those expensive coilovers dont seem so expensive now."

Welcome. I just bought a white on beige F50 last weekend.

I'm also wondering how well the UAS will work on my non-sport F50 suspenion. I may just go air runner. Its true that coilovers are expensive due to the front spindle.

Boy, i wish i could speak Japaneese!! Thanks for the info Widebody this is what i was looking for and knew i would find the answers here. I plan on doing the bags myself...if i get them. The strut dilemma does pose a problem. I understand the core charges and have priced stock suspension pieces... might as well by the coilovers like you said. I have dealt with coilovers on many other cars so know what to expect when doing the work myself. This apparently seems the way to go. Do wish there waas a bag setup that was more bolt on for the f50 with the adjustble struts. Your knowledge has helped me narrow my decision.

AME-VIP you will find your car to be great I hope. I enjoy mine, more luxury than I have had before. The white color gets dirty easily but gets notices with rims all the time. All the people I work with keep asking me if I got a new car? Or IS that a new model? Then I explaine nope just a very well kept 6 year old car with 50,000 mles on it....hehehe Wonder the same as you though if the airrunner works any better on the F50?

From what I have read and seen, Air runner doesn't slam the front of the car low enough. There is a member on here from Hawaii that has Airrunner and has had it modified so the front sits nice and low. I believe "Rev-01" did the install. You can talk to him and see if he wants to share his secrets. Good luck

Thanks Widebody good to know. What kind of custom set up do you have (if you dont mind me asking) and what was the cost?? There are obviously limiting factors to the bag option. I may just contact the person you mentioned above. If the modators let me!!! I may just contact them next. Im being slightly limited here in 101. Want to buy stuff from here but cant contact vendors makes it dificult.

Elfather thank you, the offset is great when it gets lower should just be right for the car. lip should fit fender perfectly for what im going for.

eurom3r future mods right now just figuring out suspension options. Me and some friends are going to take the front suspension off again next weekend (hopefully) and will be lowering the front more. The rear springs will go on at same time. New brakes aready purchased drilled slotted rotors and pads will go on same time as well. Body kit is what really looking for but does not exist unless it is a full kit, but i only want alip kit. Will of course be buying curtains, cima grill, will probably rebadge as well.

Thanks I am enjoying it. People really like the looks and its a pretty rare car in this city. You are going to need the JDM front bumper if you want a lip kit. Sucks!

I didn't know that Air Runner doesn't go that low on the F50.

I dont remember all the specs but its a custom shortened front strut with the bag attached to it. The total cost was alittle expensive because I had lots of parts custom made to get some some negative camber like the control arms. All together it ran be about $6500 installed  I can't complain though, the system fits my needs perfectly and I can even go lower then it is already with a few adjustments

Thanks and good luck. The prices are dropping so one shouldnt be too out of reach in a few years

dubvipers - Thanks for the welcome. The F50 support is hard to find this forum is one that does have good support. Hope you get yours soon.

widebody - $6500 wow that has got to be a nice setup, but it is apparent you know what you want to do and do it--- that is great!!! Some people just talk and dont do!

Elfather - I have not lowered the back yet and plan too next weekend (just need the time!). Hopefully the rear will clear the fender with just a slight roll of the inner lip. On the F50 the front has already been rolled in from the factory but the rears are not!! I m going for clean drop without too much if any body work to the rear fenders. The fronts have plenty of room, im considering spacers to bring it closer to the front lip of the fender. My springs are swift, for right now they ride god but just not low enough. Also the bumper how much was it with shipping form Japan?? whats the difference?? lower, wider, narrower etc..

Thanks guys

the japan front bumper is actually shoter and you need to take out the bumper absorber foam, and minor work on the bumper reinforcement bar that is aluminum , it has a chrome molding trim just below the headlights and a license tag opening in the middle just like the one in the usdm G35 SEDAN the 04 models , the us 2002-2004 q45 didnt have the chrome trim ,but the 05 model did but it is much slim thene mine thats the difference , it cost me around $800 bucks and it took about 8 weeks. post pics after you lower the Q thanks!
