18s on 2GS? too small?

hey guys,
 
just a quick one here, there are some nice 18s up for sale on one of my local forums. theyre almost perfect in all aspects apart from the fact that they are 18s :pat:
 
they're 18x9 & 18x10 +22 all round. guy wants around $1800 AU no tyres but will likely drop that price a couple of hundred.

i know the design is a bit old, but condition is mint on 3 and slight rash on 1 of the rears, so all in all a good set of wheels. what do you guys think? Worth considering or too weak? also not sure if they will suit my car necessarily...?

18's can be too small...I was looking into them, but they just look too small. 19's are perfect. 
 
If you can, test fit them and see if you like them first. You might be able to pull it off if you are low enought.

If your willing to make them work, they can work.  That involves getting the car really low and cutting the rear fender arches slightly higher so the wheel isnt tucking.  That makes the wheels look larger.  
 
Other wise, 18's will be too small

AS i said before....18s suck on 2gs.  the rear fenders will swallow the rims.  19s is perfecto.

You think we cant drive low? Ok, so maybe most of us are scared to go past the magical 10cm mark, but in a few weeks one of my mates will show you all how its done!

hahah Yokota - fair call mate, i wont be able to go low enough to run them i dont think.
 
australia sucks for being low, yeah the defects and stuff are bad, but mostly its just majorly impractical since the car is daily. bags are totally illegal at least here in perth, and the best price ive found is around $7000 installed which is just out of my price range.
 
19s with coilovers it is then! and i do plan on lowering as much as i can, probably not mucn more than 10cm but ill see. im not scared to scrape undercarriage etc now that i have a car with no kit  (unlike my s13) so thats good, but i found the issue was inner and upper guard clearance and stuff that limited me going as low as i wanted with the s13

ant, its only as impractical as you want it to be. I drove everywhere with my car with about this much clearance:

Without a kit its easy, because scraping undercarriage doesnt do as much damage as scraping fibreglass!

18s are cool. ive got 17s on my whip now and they dont look terribly small to me.. though they are black chrome so its hard to see where the tire starts and wheel stops :P

I have 18's on my GS...doesn't look that bad but I would say 19's are perfect.

18's shud be fine. 19's will be better, as seen in the last issue of Project car mag.

I say go at least 19's if ur gonna spend the money u won't regret it .  I have some work meister s1 3pc  in 19 they look great on my car..   I'm down to get rid of em lemme know

you can rock the 18s and dump it but like previously said the rear is gonna swallow it.  if you plan to put a kit on later i would go 19s...if you have a kit you probably gonna have a bigger wheel gap between the fender and tire because you cant drop it as low

Seriously don't skimp just because the wheels look nice and you want to hurry and get wheels. Wait for something you really want in the right size.

^ i didn't want to chime in until i sold my 18in leon hardiritt ordens, but this guy is right on the money. DO NOT do it. You won't be satisfied.

hahahahahaha I have had both 19's and 18's, difference? 19's look nice and at home but you lose some in the offset department and they will look just that....nice.
 
18's on the other hand with low offsets available due to smaller wheel and more camber when dropped will look sicker than hell.... John knows what i'm talking about but just doesn't know....hahahahahahahaha you got a pic message John! :smiley-rofl:
