Which coilovers for a 94 Ls400?

hey guys/girls
im lookin to throw some fully adjustable coilovers on my 1994 lexus Ls400.  iv been doin some research and have come across some good kits from tein and megan racing.  but im curious 2 c if any1 has done fully adjustables  on an Ls400 and could tell me what works what doesnt work, if or any problems they may have encountered, what they like or dont like about the kit exc....

How low are you looking to go? and what type of ride are you willing to deal with? The tein flex wont go real low, i had the ha on my car and was pretty low but the ride was harsh even when i adjusted the damping. If your looking to go extreme with the height most coilovers may wear down quicker.

im looking for 1" to 1.5" tops. i no the ride isnt going 2 b good with coilovers but i want to make it as best as possible.

for 1-1.5" i would look for drop springs and adjustable shocks/struts. doesn't make a lot of sense to spend the kind of money it takes to get [I]quality[/I] coilovers for such a small drop.
 
more importantly i would go lower. sorry i can't help you w/ specific recommendations but someone should chime in.

I have JIC FLT-A2 Coilovers on mine (well, plus UAS Airbags). Never had a problem with them, absolutely love them actually. They ride very nice, the spring rates aren't that stiff at all, and height/preload are seperately adjustable... which means you can slam the car, and still have optimal shock rod travel.
 
1-1.5 inch drop is not enough sir, trust me, our UCF10's are lifted 4x4's from the factory... 1 inch isnt going to look much better :sad:

ohh wait scratch that tein only makes thos for 95+ :signdammit:
although whats so different from the 94 and 95 Ls400 if any1 could tell me?

UCF10 and UCF20 are compatible.

You're wasting your money if you are trying to only go 1 to 1.5 inches down.  Get some springs like some have suggested already.

if i can go lower then i might a well, i dont no how much lower i can go with the wheels i got on the car... im lookin at coilovers because im going 2 want to play around with the ride hight, camber exc.

I have a 94 LS400 myself that I just bought the Megans for. I talked with LOTC from the CL board who has a 1st gen LS on JIC coilovers and he says its stiff enough he doesnt enjoy driving it anymore. I read several posts with people on the new adjustable Megans saying they ride great (19psi is one guy that comes to mind) and thats why I bought mine. I contemplated just going coils but 2 things would happen: I wouldnt have any adjustabilty if it wasnt as low as I wanted, and if I cut the coils to make it lower the shock travel is ruined & the shocks would be toast in no time. 
I also was dealing with another issue... my existing shocks are already bad, so I have to replace them anyway, along with the hardware (isolaters upper & lower) bearing plates, shaft bumpers, etc (I like doing it complete) so by the time I got all that stuff I was looking at less than $150 difference to go rebuildable Megans. 
I'll post up pics when I get them installed (hopefully next week) along with the 19's I have sitting in the garage waiting to go on.

sounds like ur in the exact situation as because my shocks arent doin so good etiher...keep me posted i wana see how the car comes out

I just put megans on my 95 sat, and I love them.  They ride great, and have lots of adjustability.  Teins are nice but won't go as low.

Ive put a set of megans on a GS, and an Accord. they both were able to go really low. And like the other guy said the ride isnt too bad. They ar e way cheaper than JIC (if you can get ahold of them) and also Tein(which yah, wont go as low). So i think to get more "bang for the buck" Id go with the Megan coilovers.

do u no if they are compatible with a 94 because it says that they make them for 95+

yes they are compatible.  19psi has them on his first gen.  I can also order these for you and have them drop shipped as I'm a dealer for them.

im willing to spend as much as it costs to get a good kit.  it may seem that dont care and i just want the car dropped but thats not the case.  i dont now exactly how low i want to go so that is why im looking to buy coilovers so i can play around with the ride hight, camber etc to get the perfect setup, and im going to want to bring the car back to around stock ride hight when i put my stock tires back on once the winter hits.   as for ebay and craigslist unless the kit was never taken out of the box i dont thing im going to buy it caz i want something new that works not a head ache

Yes, the megans will fit fine.  The pic on their website actually shows them on a first gen.

sounds good...looks like ill be goin with the megans then...ill keep u guys posted on the progress and how the car comes out.
