Hard water spots on lips..

Likke the title says, how are hard water spots removed from the lips of wheels? My camera is charging, ill post a pic to show what its looking like.. They are like unremovable water spots..anyone have this issue? any help will be much appreciated.. wheels are work vsxx//

Have you tried using carbanuba wax?

tried everything so far, polishes, even used my p/c on em, didnt even touch it.. Its only been on thewheels  for a  few days...

could be clear coat coming off?    try clay bar.

i thought work wheels had clear coat ?

i remember when i had hard water spots on my paint from when i went to the dessert and had the the sprinkler water cover my car in crazy water spots that were caked on there from 110 degree weather .. i used vinegar diluted with water

yup the salad dressing did it for me too you'd be amazed at the power of vinegar man hahahahaaha

Any compound type cleaner should take care of them.  The compound has to be an abrasive though.  3M or Meguiars both have products that will do the trick.

I use a paint reducer from a company called dimension you can buy it from a autobody store.....it also works on hazy chrome lips.

hmm, im gonna have to try out the vinegar.  Ive used the eagle chrome polish, but it doesnt take them all off.

alright.. tried the vinegar, didnt do shit, tried the 50/50 with water, then staight vinegar... still nothing.. really sucks.. Im gonna have to try the paint reducer, or maybe try mineral spirits.. Ive also tried limeaway.. Seems like it needs something somewaht abrasive to get it off.. Ill get some pics to show.. Just wondering, if work wheels have a clearcoat over em, how the fuck is this shit happening?

if after all that it hasn't cleared... maybe it isn't waterspots?? maybe like they said previously it could be the clearcoat has been eaten away?

Use a magnifieing glass if you want to get a real in depth look at them spots  :shrug:   Just an Idea

mini buffer, 3m compound. tape up the face so u dont hit & burn =P "edit" Bad idea if the lip has gel coat *facepalm*

i havent washed my rims, let alone my car in like 2 months. it sits evryday, collecting rain, dust, dirt, car wash soap from my family washing their cars by mine, i dont really trip. before i let it sit, i waxed them with zymol (sp?). they look like shit right now. i usually take the better part of the day sitting at each wheel washing it, then waxing it all over again, it takes a while but it comes out... time and patients

Get meguires metal polish , or toothpaste , it is a slight abrasive with a wax finish to protect. It works wonders when mine lips get busted looking. It also cleans 3 year old exhaust pipes caked in black carbon with no cats if that tells you how good it is.

Ive been having the same problem on my SSR SP1 wheels. I didnt know that the clay bar or a little wax would do the trick?

I ran acorss this my last set .. was quoted $$$$ each wheel to refinsh because of th clear 
 
It was hardly noticable but paying 150 a wheel to refinish is alot
 
I tryed everything and that damn buffer ball ... = 27.00 what a waste  .. never used it yet .. other than wheels , which it didnt help

vinegar and water supposedly gets water spots out.

aright, ive tried about 10 different things to get these spots off... finallyfound some stuff that work, blue magic <blue wheel shit> and mothers billet polish.. Ive spent an hour on each wheel, it works, but very time consuming...

dude....sounds like you had more then water spots.   maybe the clearcoat was messed up and you just took a layer off since you were rubbing with the polish so much.   Polish is actually an abrasive.

definately sounds like more than water spots..... how are they doing now?

i donno they looked like waterspots, slightly oxidized looking spots.. and no I did not take off the clear, there are a few chips off the clear coat, and it was not from the polishes... I dont have pictures now that I have cleaned them... so far so good...

ya.. imo its the best waterspot remover.... its nice cause it works on clearcoats unlike most waterspot removers.... took me like 10 mins to remove hardwaterspots from one wheel..

Won't vinegar, being an acid, etch the clear?

That's my concern about it.

I've got some water spots on my Viennas too, and hosing them down doesn't really cut it.

Tried something called Lime Away its in a green spray bottle it worked for me. Got it at Walmart  :biggthumpup:
