my suggestions just because it will make things easier for you later is:

1. map out your build - this way you don't lose track of where you are headed. if it's good enough for a little animated girl with her purple backpack.... it's good enough for you.

2. take your time - this isn't a race. you want to do things right the first time around and get more bang for your buck. do the research needed so you don't end up like most of us where you buy and sell due to trial and error.

3. use the search button - you have heard it here a few times already but you will hear it again and again. I do offer you this. make friends with people who have your platform. without bugging them ask them the harder questions you didn't find in using the search button. hell some people may even take you and your project on as a challenge for them to overcome if you ask them something they aren't sure about.

4. say thank you - when someone helps you out. thank them. this will help build stronger relationships and friendships with your soon to be or already peers. believe me that our moms were right when they told us that you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

5. have fun - this is a hobby and lifestyle but by no means a substitute for your family and friends. take time off here and there so you can refresh your mind and come back a little more clear headed when your build seems stuck!!

Welcome and we hope to see your build thread soon with awesome pics of how you are doing, but for now.... how about showing some pride in your car and posting current pics? after all you are paying some cash for it so show it off for gods sake!!!

Thanks for the advice... I just joined finally after meeting lots of nice people at VIP FESTIVAL in S.D. I bought my Y33 the day before the show and then drove my stock ride down to the event and had a great time. Thanks to everybody I met and for all the advice. I don't remember everybody's names but it was nice to feel welcome even showing up with a stock ride.

check out the vendors on this site in the classifieds section and see what they have on their websites. Most offer Yahoo.jp services which would be awesome for those uber rare parts you may want to floss!

I'm here doing a bit of reading and trying to get a feel for what is, is not, and COULD BE considered VIP. I plan on getting rid of my 06 Altima and picking up a project car. IDK as of now what direction I will go just yet or even if I'll go with a VIP build, but I enjoy reading through forums none the less.

I think what people want to hear is how to do it. My tip with building a wide body is to buy the wheels first and build the car around the wheels rather than trying to fit wheels to a car you have widebodied. A better fitment this way and even cheaper in long run as will have the guards exactly where you want them rather than building or spacing wheels to fit. I don't think anyone else really suggests this but it is sure way to get it right. Many like to keep their parts all secret here so you will need to be grateful to anyone that offers information but i don't feel like there is any journey to vip either your there or you are not.
