control arm question on my 97 ES300
Does anyone else with a 1997 Lexus ES300 have the problem i'm having I keep hitting my lower control on bumps. If anyone else has had this problem how can I fix this? Any help would be great because I plan on going lower pretty soon. thanks

i dont think thats possible, if anything you will hit your subframe before hitting your control arms, especially if youre as low as you say you are.
so its probably your subframe.

he's suggesting you're bottoming out and your upper control arms are actually hitting the inside of the fender well and you should drill out a space for your uca's to clear. like charley said, it's not very likely your lca's are hitting anything, if anything it's your uca's or your subframe smacking the ground. uca is most likely since it seems to a pretty common issue for people rolling hella dumpt.

i was thinkin that was the issue too but a quick google led me to believe the es has a macpherson strut setup which has no uca.
if i'm wrong then that may be the culprit.

Cool thanks Brainneeded I will look into drilling a space for my uca to clear.

OK since I have no UCA's since my ES is a FWD I dont have to worry about that issue. I have another question or should I start another thread.

yeah, no uca. only lca. and it wont be your lca's. so its your subframe or something else.
ive been really busy with work and setting up my other es300. just waiting on my kit to arrive, and off to the shop it goes.
btw, post some pics of your ride. i wanna see...
goodluck

sorry man, i was just going off of what i've seen before, i don't see too many es3's being modded and i haven't ever worked on one. i thought i'd just throw out what i've heard before. but it is true that you would hit your subframe before your lca's. you might have to sacrifice ride quality and go stiffer. are you on coils now? what do you plan on doing in the future? what kind of suspension (type make and model) are you on now?
none of us can fully diagnose your problem without more information or seeing the car in person.

It's coo Biggz no harm done. Anyway I'll try to post some pix this weekend or sometime this week. I'm running K-Sport coils now and new rear camber kits im sitting about -4 right now but I would like to see how far I can go in the rear. wheels are 18x8F & 18x8.5 in the rear. Charley let me know if you ever decide to sell the Trafiic Stars. My plans for the future I have alot honestly my next step is im going to order either the Auto Couture kit (Sorry Charley) or the Berhman type 2 kit with the Berhman rear trunk wing, to fill in the gap I'm going to install a 5Zigen Fireball Mega exhaust, If I can find the Windom cornerlights I would like to buy those also those are the only details I can give right now so I dont give everything away. I will stop being so damn lazy and take pictures are work progresses on my car.

I know it's taken a minute but I finally have a few pictures so everyone gets an idea of the depressing ride height I have had to raise my car to. here are 2 pictures that didnt come out good at all and the others I had so many problems with so down sizing so I will upload side pictures of the car from my office cause this computer sucks ass. I do love my tint and Hids though but it's very hard to see.

that is depressing. do you still have the bumpstops in your suspension? that could be the bottoming out you're experiencing.

Yea I still have the bump stops I have been thinking about it the past few days. I'm wondering if my brother blew out my right rear strut when he used my car to go crusing in down town Denver.
