the new style! i mean "?"

so... i was doing my usual surfin of japenese sites and noticed something on k-break. apparently the show season over there has begun since the last time i checked it out.

i was first curious when i read some of the comments from the jp blog concerning agi's f50. i noticed they were referring to it as "classic styling" and didn't quite understand what they meant by "focusing on alpha styling". now i may be wrong (maybe some of you guys who have a better grasp on the japanese language/current events can correct me) but i'm taking itto mean they are going back to the old school wild style approach.

so...

Half of them are just guys trying to get attention..the others are a mix of actual old school cars/styling and some off the wall things that they actually thought/think look good. You know, different strokes.

from dom's translation of jp blog:

It really pulls off the classic VIP look huh...
Current trend in Japan is OEM+Alpha but seeing this originality should provide some encouragement to us too!

mike, since you're pretty in touch with whats goin on and understand japanese (i think) any idea what this meant?

I dont really look at it as classic vip styling but keep in mind that the guys that commented on the car from the blog only seen one pic of the car and thats from the front angle. Im not trying to fit in a catagory reguardless.

I didnt get the Alpha thing too. Might just be a term that they use to describe something that we have a different name for?

"A typical or current" styling plus OEM looks..which IS what Agi was going for. He basically said what you tried to do..and did. And added that you did a conversion that would possibly make them consider doing more as well. Haha, don't look into it too much...it's more simple than it seems.

word.i just wondered exactly what he meant and then when i saw some of these cars thought "alpha" could have been a translation of "beginning" i.e. old school.

glad to see this is not the future.

Classic vip style is not OG vip style. Agi's car looks nothing like the old school crazy cars. Classic in this case is more "classy" styling. Things get lost in translation all the time with different cultures interpreting things the way they think they are or what most closely relates to their own language..which often times..is wrong or slightly off at the least.

Sorry, i havent been around much... Actually the Japanese actually just said OEM + Alpha (in katakana), but the meaning is OEM plus something...

Looking at the Sessions event i just went to on Sunday, its clear that they are not going "back to the roots"... Of course there were oldschool type cars there, but most were newschool and some newer styles which some dont really like (like that UCF31)

I don't like the "older" style cars (smaller wheels, large lips, huge fenders and spoilers) at all, never have. Im just not a flashy guy i suppose...If that trend comes stateside i will not be jumping bandwagon :)

Im not into the big ass fenders or wings like the white Cedric. I do like the black President and black crown. The flower design on the black crown doesnt look to bad for some reason.
