Hint on how to get out of 101!

now this isn't official or anything, but imo nothing shows you know what you're talkin about more than a good old build log. i'm pretty sure some successful posts in this section would mean more towards showing you deserve to be in the general public than anything else you could do.

Hmm well I think I can contribute a hell of allot without having a VIP car here. However I have learned a few things here just by cruising the non 101 site. But that is limited in some pretty obvious ways. I will however continue to try and contribute what I can as just a regular person with a nice car and a great VIPStyle influenced build. That's along with my offer on photographic skills :) 

My 2cents and self plug.

I will around the next week or so when I have something to show :)  But for now it is gonna be interior work. Wheels and body kit are about 2 months wait. Not many people mod my car like I am doing it VIPStyle so I believe it's gonna be difficult to prove anything to you till it's done :biggthumpup:.

So for now I know my Car will never be VIP, that is very apparent to me. But VIPStyle? I believe yes it can be done, and done with taste.

And what car are you modding up 'vip style'?

Yeah actually I believe there are/ were very few xA's that I have seen in the USA done this way. 1st one was the AutoFasion. there are 2 out east as well but not many at all. It will not ba overnight. But it will happen since I have already put too much into it to stop now. 

Anyway, Headliner and Pillars are intalled. Waiting on Garson and JP stuff. Planning out hte next set of mods.

what up? I drive a 2000 Lexus GS300. I already have tanabe hyper medallion cat back exhaust and tein s tech lowering springs. I have some 19'' Privat Netz Rims w/ 245/35 kumho ecsta tires. I am sellling the wheels because when I originally got the lexus i went for the turbo tuner style. Now, not so much the case. I'm going full VIP. Looking at picking up a pair of AME Shallen LX or WX's for the ride. Will also be taking the tein s tech springs off and buying tanabe sustec coilovers. Garson curtains will be coming as well...just need all the VIP touches. Alot of work to do.....
 
I'm also looking at getting a 02 F50 so who knows, i might sell the 2gen GS and pick up the big body Q. I gotta lot of thinking to do.
 
I want out so i can get ideas and give input for both of these cars, depending on what lands in my hand. I've learned some things pretty quickly about lexus and infiniti that i had not learned before.

I am from TN too , 10 years ...Over in the sale thread there is a Nice 02 q45 for 12900.00  lemme know its my bros ... Other wise he'll kit it and keep it ...  :shrug:
 
You know alot of people have Gs' so going the Q route is always rare .. best of luck with what you deciede

so do u live in TN or are you out in cali now?  Do you know anyone that would be willing to buy my GS? I just had a guy that was gonna get it fall through because the bank won't allow him to get a loan cuz he just bought jet ski's. :signdammit:
 
I know I kinda wanna go Q but the suspension is soooooo expensive compared to coilovers for a GS.

hey guys im new here. my names kyle and im from the florida region. 
 
i purchased a 98 GS300 not to long ago. from what ive been told, its pretty rare. it has full leather seats and the options but WITHOUT THE SUNROOF. so im happy. the car is silver and the interior is black. 
 
this car is going to be having some progress here shortly. 
 
my parts list is as follows
 
black wheels- secret, cant tell the brand til purchase =)
toyota japan black chrome grill
black housing headlights with retrofitted CTS projectors and HIDs
painted inner taillights-silver
smoked black outer tails
UAS air supsension kit
black chrome emblems
TTE front lip
black curtains all around
 
for now, that would be it. ive got other bits and pieces to do as well in the paint department but that should be it.
 
im here to learn more about the VIP culture, as well as get helps and pointers to doing things myself so i dont have to pay for labor. im all about learning and doing things hands on, so i try and stay away from shops etc.
 
if possible, i would please love to move out of the 101 section, as i have many questions for fellow vipstyle members, as well as things i would like to purchase in the forsale section.
 
any help in this process would be greatly appreciated.

Well this thread seems to be slow, so i figured i'd stop by... My name is Chris, I live in Tx and i drive an 06 m45, ivory pearl on black. I have big plans for the car, air + big low offset wheels = body work...lol 
 
One more thing, upon reading some of the newb threads, i found some contorversy on whether or not the fuga is considered a vip platform. I feel like it is. Its big, expensive, and has a powerful v8. Either way, I will be going for the vip look.

sup guys of the vip world... admins and noobies. i'm running a 89 240sx and thats my lil drift setup. its also my daily driver round town and wat not. so so im looking to finish paint and cop another set up kiks for her. simple setup murder flat black and white walls sitting on low low status. im in the looking for a 90ish toyota previa at the time! im freakin amazed with the vip van craze.... or so ther will be one to come.

I agree about the build is the best way out but at the same time just cause a member or person doesnt have a formal platform as a car, or even has a car for that matter doesnt mean they dont deserve to be a full member or doesnt have  something useful to contribute, or doesnt have a good question to ask a full member could need imfo that a noobie might have the answer to but the noobie cant even post up help, which could in turn help him get to be a full member or get the respect from others that he deserves to get. I want out and I figured the best way to do it is to buy a car thats a formal plattform and do it just as good, or better than a full member.  IF I CAN FIND A CAR THATS IN THE CONDITION I CAN  LIVE  WITH  FOR  THE PRICE  I CAN AFFORD.  Cause I can be honest and say I aint rich, nor am I a baller, I m just a guy who has a love for  japanese cars.  Hopefully  I will get out one day. Im glad there's a section for noobs, but it really does suck.  Wish there was a faster way because some people can't post about a build if they haven't done anything yet. As you can See I've got a crazy paintjob to work on, as well as a minor body kit addition to make and attach. 
For the Interior I plan on putting wood flooring in the passenger area, adding limo overhead lights, reupholstering all seats walls and ceiling(but don't know color yet),  adding curtains to the rear windows and possibly putting in a TV. as you can See I've already mounted a coffe table inside and depending on how the car ends up looking it may transform into a a double layered Frosted plexiglass table with cup resivoirs and lit from inside by neon, or blacklight.
The Cockpit willget shag carpet  and LEDs, other than that I'm still getting new Ideas.


I plan on doing everysingle mod myself byhand, from the frist soldering down to the Elaborate paintscheme.

The down part for me is I'm not a noob. I've been/apart of the Euro scene here in Hawaii for years, was even a member of one of Hawaii's premiere European carclub. I know, a handful of people that are in and associated in the "VIP" scene here as well. I'm just antsy because I want to hit up the Euro section...So just being patient, in the meantime.:shrug:

being able to build a non-vip car doesn't really help in establishing your value as a member on a vip forum. everyone can turn a wrench. everybody knows somebody. these aren't the things that are up for question.
 
do you understand vip? can you stay true to the style? will you be a contributing member of the community? these are the things you need to prove.
 
saying "i do/will" is not proof, just promises. do work, pay your dues, and be patient. there really aint much goin on outside of 101 these days anyway.

I am getting the moldings, rockers, valances, and handles color matched white and the roof and grill painted black. Im really not new to the VIP scene and know how to stay true to whats its all about, I have always been just a browser to the site and really kind of kept to myself. But I decided to join. My old projects are gone as I do get old with cars fast. my last build was not VIP but yet different. my new car I bought a couple weeks ago will be my newest project and still trying to keep true and yet differant from the crowds to be unique. I will post updates and pics of the progress and It will go fast. I wanted to buy a car that fit my need and wants and wanted to make sure it was right for what I needed. I wanted a black genesis sedan with flawless paint and interior. also I wanted the two tone dark red/black interior with tech package. I found one and I bought it.. week later I ordered a set of stance gr coilovers from my friends at meng motosports.  The wheels I want dont come out till the middle of feb. they are Rohana Rc10 Face 3 concave with a 2.5" lip on top of the concave.  running a 20x9 +35 front and 20x11 +28 rear "for now" tires I will buy once the fenders are flared and coilovers on on so I can see what I need to run. But im guessing its going to be a 265/35/20 on the rear and a 225/35/20 front. I have alot of little stuff im going to do but to much to write.  Like I said Ill post pics and specs of everything I do. Ill post some pics too of my last project I never completed. it was a 2003 infiniti fx45 to much to list but alot of wrok went into the suspension to get it righ aswell and shaving fender and trimming plastic "yuck plastic" enjoy.

If this thread was around when i joined. I would still be in class, maybe like 103.

I currently purchase a 97 y33, and will be doing s14 front end suspension and also the rear, some nasty camber angle and crazy tires. Im a big butty guy so def its going to have some crazy offset .

hey everyone.. im fairly new to the vip scene, but ive bounced around  the honda, drift, then eventually off road in the past. I recently  bought a 1997 Q45 y33 back in March/ April. has some mods and was well  taken care of and previous owner was awesome. right now im more  concerned about suspension. Right now im on the stock shocks with tein s  tech lowering springs. Rides fine but i feel ill need something in the  near future since this is my daily and cali freeways arent the biz  lately. Just want a few ideas. I see some set ups and owners going the  s14 suspension or bags and air runner.[ATTACH]3272[/ATTACH] heres a pic.. not sure if its gonna show up

The s14 swap was primarily done in the past due to the lack of coilover applications for the Y33.
Now you have choices that make lowering your Infiniti much cheaper and easier.
Megan and BC now include spindles in their coilover set ups allowing for direct bolt on and other companies such as Powered by Max offer applications for Y33's as well.
Any of which can be run with bags or cups as another adjustable ride option and of course their is the Airrunner option.

This just answers your question....as far as which route to choose is a never ending debate so I will leave it at that and for you to research what fits your needs and more importantly your pockets haha.

Look up PBM or BC coilovers. Those will be the best coilovers IMO

thanks that makes sense... pretty much as i researched people are leaning towards PBM.. ill check out BC or maybe call because on the site there isnt an application for the y33 unless the site is out of date.. also, does the 300zx spindle work with the y33... when i bought the car the guy included what looks to be the spindle and control arms with hub.. ill try to take a pic and post it..

ok i shouldnt have jumped the gun on the reply.. i found an old post from OG and said they have a special order from BC with spindle for cheap... it was a post from the end of 2011 but hopefully it didnt jump in price

A swap farther down the road of course.. Prolly 2 years or so. Couple people on here that know me are Speedaddic, OG, Waijai, LiLS (if he's on here), VipdOut.. Prolly a couple more, but I don't know everyone that's on here.

interesting to see how other forums are laid out. 
I'm used to Zilvia, which is 900,000 peasants who beg for knockoff everything so they can get "stance", and maybe 50-75 actual enthusiasts. 

Ill admit, I'm not a VIP purist. I don't want a knot hanging from my rear view and I don't care for window curtains. 
I just wanted to have a nice y34 sedan on coils and r35 wheels, doing research about which LSD will fit the rear end, and someday down the line swap in a z33 6spd trans. At some point ill either switch to the JDM gloria front end (grille, headlights, bumper) or spring for a supermade kit. 

This car is my daily while most of my funds go to my s13 so it may take a few months to make any significant progress, but I say that every time I pick up a new project and then I end up with a garage full of new parts for it in like a month. 

P.s. Anyone wanna buy a '84 733i? Cranks, no ignition/spark and no injector pulse.

So, I dont have a car thats considered to be VIP or known to be used as VIP but I'm looking to possibly get a car that can be made ito a VIP styled car since I dont think a oldschool VW can be made VIP style.Although if i lower my cars rearend I'd have camber only you can dream of lol then also I can static drop mine so low it could be a reflector collector. Its been dont multiple times. Theres air ride kits for my car. I can put porche rims on my car if i change the bolt pattern. As far as deep dish wheels that part im not sure on.
