engine on fire!!!

so the other day I was driving home in the evening noticed my gauge lights were dimer than usual, thought I was just trippin. Then my abs, tcs, and all the other lights that werent supposed to be on turned on and the car died. Great, alternator is fucked. Luckily I was close by my house so I jumped started it and got it half way in the garage n died again. Took the battery to autozone got it charged, put it back in started it up n the engine was hella smoking. Smelled like burned plastic. Took off the engine cover n my alternator had a ball of fire in it. Tried putting it out with a towel, was getting bigger so I just poured some water in it. Fuck it. Better than my car blowing up. But my warranty is a power train n not the standard warranty so alternator isnt covered. Or do u guys think the dealer will cover it anyway cuz the shit caught on fire. Wtf made it do that anyway? What should I do?

R U sure that your alternator is stock?? Check the part number to make sure.
Just making sure cause your car is about 10 years old already and might have been changed before.

nope, called the dealership today said that the alternator nor electrical malfunctions is covered so guess I gotta put some elbow grease into it. Which is ok I guess gives me something to do. Just wish it didnt have to be out of pocket. Fcuk. :signdammit: it would have been cheaper to let the car blow up. N more exciting.

LMAO thats a good attitude to have.

Parts are very expensive on these cars reguardless of how old they are. Before you go out and get anything at the dealer, try searching online. You will save some money doing so.
