Yep been doin it for the past 9 years (only 4 of that competitive). Pretty fun game overall. Im a +9 handicap as of right now. I think I could get it down to +5 with a little practice and playing more than once a month.

i just started and been playing alot. check out sports authority usually they have sets on sale cheap with $25 off coupon. or buy from ebay, buy ur iron set, woods/drivers, putter, and bag. it will be a lil more in the end. but well worth it. i bought a cheap set and it lasted a week til i returned it and bought something better.

Agreed. Dont cheap out and buy the Walmart set. Youll "outgrow" that really fast. If you want to go cheap, go to a driving range that builds clubs and buy some irons there. They can custom fit you, and youll swing that set of custom fit clubs that are re-branded names (Nike, Callaway, Ping, and all the others) better than buying the name brands off the shelf. The only clubs I say to "go for name" on is driver, woods, and putter. They can actually make a difference that is noticeable. For all clubs, I suggest you swing them a bit, hit some balls with them, and make sure theyre right for you. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Ive worked at a driving range for the past 8 summers, so Ive pretty much seen and done it all (including beginners lessons all the way thru club repair)

graphite shafts were made for women and seniors. i thought the same when i started, but u get use to steel shafts, they are better anyways. if u want something light look into rifled shafts.

I have been playing for years now. I have been trying lately to play at least one round of 18 a week. Like any serious amateur, I feel my striking skills are great but my short game is always the bane of me. Any bay area cats, we should play sometime!

Well its not where my SN came from but I have been playing since age 5. Dont get out as much as I used to and only hold a 7 handicap now a days.
I use Aldila S-65 stiff shafts for my driver and 3 wood. 2 iron down is steel. But the pop you can get with properly matched shaft for your swing is amazing.

Funny thing is, I whooped my dad in distance a while back, he was getting mad because it was my first time out there! He actually plays golf too! But he sucks. I need to get out there more, but it's too dang hot, AND I'm left handed, which makes it weird.

Yea that's a nice collection. I love the Cameron putters. I had a Studio back in the day. My competition bag currently is:
Nike Stand Bag
Cleveland Launcher 400 with Fujikura a stiff shaft (on the higher end of stiff, almost super stiff)
Adams Tight Lies 3 and 5 woods stiff shaft
Callaway 3-SW rifle shafts
Cleveland 60 degree wedge (the rust model)
Teardrop-Zebra putter
PS- Wald GS, Im going to have to fine you a stroke for too many clubs in the bag :P

Pro Vs are such sick balls. Even the originals are sweet. Very nice choice. So soft, yet I dont seem to cut them much and they fly a mile. Plus, you can put enough action on them to do anything.

They get the job done thats for sure. I get more distance out of Nike balls, but they last around 4-5 holes per ball(depending on what tees I play(distance relation)) I will cut up a nike from some front tees if I am hitting driver wedge every par 4. I can usually get 2 rounds out of a Pro V1x.
