A question for the business professionals..

Where do you shop for suits/shirts/slacks/shoes/ties/etc?? I need to build up my wardrobe for the professional world. I'm not looking to buy Armani or anything... just nice classic pieces that I can wear over and over again without them looking tired and out-of-style. Any department stores in particular? Or maybe even places online?

Men's Warehouse, Three Day Suit Broker. They are the only ones that carry a nice sized (but small still) selection of French Cuffed shirts... if you don't use or don't like cuff links... you aren't on the up and up. :smiley-rofl:

I would shop at Macys. They always have deals and carry resonably respectable brands. In the past i've found good prices in the clearance suits dept. Getting a bargin is better then going cheap!

I've been building my Suit/Sport Coat Collection too. They're having a big sale, Sport coats for like 66 beans, and suits marked way down.

Brooks Brothers has the best $500 suit this year! Nordstroms and I always check Nordstorms Rack for the deals. During winter you can get away with shopping at Target for sweaters... I think the biggest key (just like your wheels) is fitment. If I where you I would go to GQ.com and look under StyleGuy and it explains exactly how a suit should fit! You would be surprised how many douche bags out there sell suits and dont know dick about how it should really fit!

You know I dont have to dress up at the office, but you can check out  Mens Warehouse, K & G Fashion, Marshalls (you know which one im talking bout), they have a Banana Republic and Kenneth Cole outlet at Katy Mills, Saks 5th, Off 5th, Burlington, Macy's, Dillards, JC Penny, Target.  You can find tons of dress wear at those places at some cheap prices.

My uncle  is a taylor and when I need a suite he makes them for me...but now that Real Estate has been slow I no longer where my nice proffessional clothes.
 
Shirts I would buy at dillards or macys....my favorite shirts where white collar white cuffs with a striped white and blue shirt or solid blue shit..long sleeve of course..
 
NOw with my graphics business Really dont need to dress as proffesional just some clean tennies , nice shorts and of course a VIP GraphX shirt....to rep.....

Since Nordstroms is highest end retailer in WA state, they carry most of the high designer brands at the Seattle and Bellevue stores.  So in turn the Seattle and Bellevue Racks have great deals on really nice stuff.  And having worked at Nordies in my younger days, still know a lot of people willing to throw an employee discount my way.

you can get some pretty nice suits at haggar and shirts I would try hitting up some outlets and look for stores like van huesen, geoffrey beene, etc. Can't go wrong with Ross. I picked up some designer belts for 20-30 bucks and they go for 50-75 at the mall. If ur on a budget that's what I would do.

Nordstrom Rack... brand name and high quality material. the price is nice too; my calvin klein suit only put me back $500 and i also picked up a Hugo Boss dress shirt, Versace tie, CK belt, and Cole Haan dress shoes for all under $700.

I am a major fan of Structure, sucks they shut the store down her ein TUcson but they still have a section in Sears, I have quite a collection of Structure wear including slacks shirts and Jackets.

Hoebag, you CAN literally go anywhere.....
 
 
but the the key is Fitment.
 
You dont want to look like some slap.....
 
So for slacks in business....grey and navy blue is where its at....solids, pinstrips ect...I have over 20 slacks and range from pinstrip to solids...gotta have a few light beige too.
 
Socks should match slacks.
 
Shoes, well, get you a couple of nice black dress shoes, a brown pair (try Mezlan) and dont forget a nice burgundy. make sure you get matching belts.
 
Shirts....fitment is everything...most shirts ,unless fitted, are always big with extra baggage.
get you at least five slassic white non wrinkle dress shirts and of course you can play with all other color and pattern shirts..
Find the one shirt you like the way it fits and have all your shirts tailored and cut to be fitted the same as the one.
 
Ties, shoooot, i have over 120 neck ties...brooks brothers,IKE Behar,Hart schaffner ect...
here latley I have been going for the Solids... make sure they are thick to ensure a good knot with dimple. call me crazy but I have found some great thick neckwear at tiecoon.com for 5 bucks a tie and they arent that cheap looking.

GATO is right, just like your wheels, your clothes should fit you. If you're rocking a $1000 suit, but it looks like you borrowed it from your dad, you're doing it wrong.

wrd, gato is on point.  It always come down to proper FITMENT.  A $5 shirt that fits you well looks like a million dollars compared to a $200 shirt that flaps in the wind :thelaw:

well any shirt can fit well or bad depending on the person who wears it, especially if they don't know how to measure their size correctly.

They make taper fit shirts for people with athletic bodies. If that's how you're shaped, you should stick to the taper fit.

It sucks trying to replace your whole wardrobe. I'm moving from Casual to more business casual and business Formal attire. (think from Suburban Dad to Danny Ocean). fitment is key as they said. So get it right and get yourself measured right.

As for the way the shirt fits...I hate when skinny guys do that muffin top thing. It looks just plain sloppy. Almost as bad as sagging your slacks halfway off your tail.
