     It is with great regret that [B]NOPI Motorsports, LLC has suspended operations for the summer and fall 2008. This will include NOPI Drag Racing Series, NOPI Drift Series and the NOPI NATIONALS Motorsports Supershow. The company is undergoing an organizational restructuring in light of severe adverse affects of a disappointing spring season. The economy and unfavorable weather resulted in underperformance of all spring events. Michael Meyers , president of NOPI Motorsports, reports that NOPI Motorsports is working with its clients and sponsors to minimize the uncertainty going forward.[/B]  This is a reflection of the economic times in which we currently live. The countrywide economic and industry downturn has caused a slowdown and tightening of belts. This affects everyone and companies, at all levels, and NOPI Motorsports is no different. 
 
We understand the position this puts everyone in and we hope you can find in your heart to work with us through this terrible time. All of you are our friends and we have felt for many years that we were all a big family.                       
 
NOPI Motorsports hates this more than anyone as the many years of hard work, tradition and an industry we helped to shape would come to this.

i find it hard to believe that a company as large and estabilshed as nopi is quitting mid-season because of a bad start.
 
i smell a cover up.

i have a very good friend that runs pro outlaw fwd. he said their season got cancelled bc all of the events so far have been rained out (i dont know if he was being sarcastic when he said ALL, but i know a big majority of them have been). everytime he starts to do well something goes bad lol.

prolly will be filling bankrupt soon

We ll you got to remember that Nopi is run in the east coast and most of those guys are behind as compared to say here in Cali.

this, plus Nats is held in Atlanta (a.k.a. HOT-lanta) GEORGIA.  Seriously, GA is not cool minus Black Hills Circuit.  But yea, east coast is weak compared to what I have seen rolling out of CA.  In every genre of motors we are like 5 years behind, or so it seems.  Well all motors except those that are from Detroit and/or go fast and turn left....

I need to make my way out west some day....

 its gay you say......have you ever been to it before? do you know how big it actually came to be, and what it means to some of the true car fans out here. its not just about the cars, there was plenty of things going on besides the the show itself.  there was the biggest bikni contest ive ever seen, you get to ride around the atanta motor speedway in your own whip that friday afternoon before the show starts, there was some serious drifting going down, a massive burn out contest that would usually smoke out the entire speedway, a hydraulic contest , nationally known hip-hop and rock groups for entertainment. a bmx bike competition , an after hours foam party, and almost every damn name in the aftermarket automotive industry with a booth and display car(s). there was three different tours that were organized for the massive amount of cars traveling across the whole eastern half of the country.  every hotel,  parking lot ,and fast food joint for miles from the show was filled with long lost friends reuniting, different car clubs hanging out together from diffenent parts of the country talking about their rides and maybe a crazy road trip story or two. 
 if you are a true car fan you should have alittle more respect for the atl scene that produced the countrys biggest longest lasting show.  
 o.k. so you guys on the westcoast may be ahead of us in some ways. but has there been a show put on this big for this long of time on that side?

 and just alittle history lesson for you guys that dont know.
 the nopi nationals motorsports show still took place the very next weekend after the 9/11 attacks. even after pres. bush demanded all major events be cancelled. despite the fact that all airlines were still down at this time and people were unsure about there safety , the turn out was still very impressive. almost record breaking if im not mistaken.  you still call this kind of dedication to the car scene gay .........? you should find a different hobby , maybe the car scene isnt for you bro....

Yea I been going to the NOPI show since the first one was held BEFORE they moved to the race track...this show had all types of cars and trucks.If the show was canceled it has to be a big deal as the show made $$ major for the company..this economy needs to turn around or we in for a depression..

Does that make Cali behind Japan? Two of the nicest car on this forum are  east of Cali. WIDEBODY_Q  and RACINSTYLES

yeah widebody, racinstylez, and mr.executive, sooo far behind those cali guys lol...

i think nopi events were fun to go to, the drift events were coming along, the shows were stepping up, ect. but, honestly whats the last part you bought from them? what was once there main gig has dwindled extremely over the years, with people going to more particular car oriented shops.

The one new element the show will include for 2008 will be drag racing! Atlanta Motor Speedway has been developing quite a drag racing program on Friday nights over the past few years, and the show will try to incorporate that element into the 2008 Supershow.

just to give alittle recap to this thread .....
 
 with such last minute planning and losing the atlanta motor speedway as the venue, i didnt really have much faith that this nopi replacement show would be much of a success.   when registration came up i saw the option to park outside and take my ride with me saturday night. i had friends coming into town to visit still and there was nothing car related going on for miles. i registered to support the cause and chill with some friends.
 last year i rolled into the nopi nationals riding next to an unknown infinity q45.  the owner of this car and i have become friends thru the past year. although he is from the north and i am from the south we both live in the atl now and ,have alot of the same views on cars.  
 vip presence is non existing around here so even though we dont claim our cars to be vip themselves , we would like to see some of its style grow here.
 i didnt get to make it back sunday to pick up a trophy i won ,but i got to capture this picture on saturday that was worth more to me. 
 if the vip style ever does grow here..... this is what we were doing before it did.... parked next to 4x4 trucks on one side and riced out ford escorts on the other.....looking at vip mags under a tent most of the day.

 it's all about the passion of custom cars and the people you meet along the way that share the same view.  i certainly dont call that gay!!!
