'Optimal' coilover spring rate for 2GS?

I understand the vagueries of what i am asking but hoping for some experience here. i am looking at coilovers for my 98 2GS. i will be looking to run 19" rims with probably 35-series rubber. My car will probably be the minimum legal height (or so) for Australia once i have the 19s of around 100mm at the lowest point. I will have no bodykit (for now at least).
 
i am asking what people have, and generally consider, to be the optimal spring rate for coilovers on a 2GS. i completely understand that you need hard rates if you go low and aggressive on fitment to prevent hiting guards/bottoming out. However, i also dont want to have my 2GS ride as roughly as all my old S13 silvias have.
 
to try to get the best ride i can i am looking at good Japanese coilover brands such as JIC and Insurance. I was almost set on the Insurance until i noticed the spring rates of only 10k/6k which to me seem almost too soft for a 2GS if riding low and eventually flush on the rims.
 
What would people recommend as a well damped but suitably stiff coilover w/ appropriate spring rate?

i don't really think you're going to get a good answer. afaik most on here riding coilovers are just using the spring rates their coilovers came with. the only reason to change would be to go firmer to get lower.
 
even then "optimal" is very subjective. when somebody buys coilovers and installs them its always "good enough" or better.
 
nobody has done more research than the coilover manufacturers as far as different spring rates. i would just pic a manufacturer and ride with it.

insurance group coilovers (which i'm running on my Q) for my chassis are 8/6k.  they're stiff enough not to bottom out during driving, yet soft enough to give a really cushy ride compared to peoples' s13/14's.

BLACKonBLACK - fair call. i know what you mean i just was trying to get some experiences i suppose. because ive seen all kind of rates for 'VIP' coilovers such as 13/7, 12/8, 10/6, 14/10 etc and most of the brands are good brands so in theory i would choose the lowest rates because i can stiffen the damper and that wil lgive me a nice ride. but i dont want to bottom out, i would rather go a little stiffer and have peace of mind. i guess that's all i was trying to get at!
 
cheez80 - thanks for that. they sound like they will do the job then. my current S13 is quite rough but the coils are old and nasty with 8/6 rates, so i suppose if i go 10/6 on the 2GS it should be good on the heavier vehicle

well just as an update to this i bit the bullet and bought the Insurance Group coilies. Found some for 980Yen so they'll run out around $1200AUD delivered, bargain :)
