Widening muffler opening...

Hey guys... I have a 94 LS400 and it has a Wald lip kit on it. I want to be able to cut the rear lip so I can put (2) dual tip mufflers...

Is there any recommendation on cutting the fiberglass? I'm tempted to put a grinder to it, but pretty sure that'll blow the fiberglass into 82 pieces lol.

I did this on my kit.  You'll have to get into extensive fiberglass repair if you want to do it right.  Here is a pic of mine...

I covered the other side too.  I actually have fiberglass sheets and resin that I am selling.  It's excess, so if you need some, let me know.

i saw a how to on cutting those little holes in your bumper and they used some funny kind of band sander. left a clean edge. might look into something like that.

you can use a good air saw with a good blade and the cut will be clean, just mark out what you want to cut and follow the line.  if you want to have it like the other side your gonna need the fiberglass mats and resin, but you also need to know how to apply it or your gonna have cracking issues later on

Unfortunately I never took pics of work in progress.  Everyone that has contributed to this thread has given you good advice so far.

I think I used a regular hand saw.  I didn't have an extreme curve of any sort to cut out.  I would recommend a jig saw or air saw if your compressor can handle it.

When it's time to fill the hole, you'll want to fiberglass from the back side and fill in with filler from the front side.  I went the extra mile and made an edge on the inside so it wouldn't look like I cut it and left it.  I wanted to make it look like it was always there.
