Your SIG..and What it sais about you??
So I have allways been a big fan of cool as sigs..I am constently updating mine when I get tired
of it...
What do you folks think about sigs and their statements left behind??
I Think that its a reflection on ones person..NOT ALLWAYS as I know not everyone has the software to make some cool ass designs. SO DONT TAKE IT PERSONAL its just a question I was wondering.
How many of you enjoy comming up with some cool sigs that set you apart on internet forums???
How many of you don't care what the sig is??
How many of you don't even use a sig???
Do you think that real intence graphical sig makes some folks stand out more?
Do you think that folks get rep points or taken more seriously when their sigs are EYE CANDY....Works of art???
hhhhmmmmm your thoughts please...
here is my new sig....

A sig is pretty telling... some are artsy, some are funny, some take themselves seriously... some are copy pasted..
I like to dabble in graphic design in my spare time, so often I'll get a neat idea for something, and I'll make something in Photoshop. Usually I end up scrapping it, but the rest of the time, it ends up as a sig or an avatar.
My past 2 sigs prior to this one were just nice shots of the car. This one markets my philosophy of 'style progress', by using some slightly subdued computer primaries (cyan, magenta, green) it stands out with a bit of funkyness. The pic is an example of that unglamorous but awesome style progress- pulling the fuck out of a fender with a wad of newspaper, for the sake of getting fitment 'just so'.
Obviously I didn't think of all that as I was making it though. It's way easier to analyze later and make stuff up to look smart =)

It is said that as the most social dependant of animals we yearn for approval instinctively. This isn't a negative thing but more a sign of our humanity. Only when this yearning becomes so strong that a "by all means necessary" attitude is adopted, is this turned into a negative connotation.
With this in mind I lay forth this theory. We are constantly in a healthy competition for our peers' approval, and like anything else in life (i.e. work, love interests, etc...) we are required to sell ourselves in order to gain the desired results. Our signatures on online forums not only are a display of whatever we have come together as a community to discuss, but it is also an opportunity to allow others to identify and approve of us. It allows people a chance at looking at who we are personality wise. It gives people a feel for ourselves. Yes there are very elaborate and maybe even sometimes overly done signatures, but this in no way diminishes the overall outcome of acceptance.
Like JOee stated, sigs in my opinion should include the sig owner's vehicle in this case. I look for several things in a sig that will tell me a lot about a person:
1. What is the message being sent overall? This shows what thought of mind it was made in, is it funny, serious, proud, overkill, and so on.
2. Did they follow the guidelines or rules on sig size? This tells me whether they are desperate for attention and had to go as big as possible so hopefully someone would bring it up.
3. Is there anything offensive? This one is interesting, while it will show as a sign of defiance and need to offend, it can really be that this person is so timid in real life that online they feel they can be free and big and bad, like the way some people carry themselves at times in conversations here.
Sorry for the long answer but..... you asked hahahahaha! :smiley-rofl:

I personally use mine to show of my car. I am on a few national forums where identities are usually lost (EVERYONE knows me on the local forum) so the sig helps to identify the poster to the rest of the community. I feel the same way about avatars.
I need to update my sig though...
