just scooped it up. 1st q45 ever made (naw... but it is a '90). 113k miles. runs like s**t, goin to the mechanic on monday-ish. pretty clean minus the hood and roof (temporary hood on the way). hard to get excited about a fixer-upper but it'll get there.

i'm gonna get the service records next week. the 1 owner said it had been dealer maintained for the most part and had a lot of preventative maintanence done... i got my fingers crossed.
 
at first i was lookin for a zenki (don't want to get too attached to the front end :giggity:) then i was like f**k that... i don't wanna deal with the guides. then i was like f**k it... i'll get what i can. this one was a step in the right direction and it was hella cheap. i only have a limited amount of money to spend on this car until next year and i know what i'm going to do so i just looked for one that had what i needed for now.

1) check codes. all systems are go so i'm pretty sure its just bad injectors makin it run bad. good news.

thats the plan... i'm going to try and mash on it until then and get it drivable/presentable. then i won't be doing anything more until the maxima is done.

That interior doesnt look beat up.  You got a good deal, how much did you pick her up for?

i was clowning, but yeah shes mine. wasn't too excited about it yesterday but since i found out that the injectors are most likely the only issue... i'm feelin better about it now.
 
scooped her up for $900 cash money. just bought a z32 suspension kit. got to get a hood before it can go to the mechanic and i'll probably have the roof buffed out or painted at the same time. then the mechanic, then install the suspension and the lowenharts i bought for the max. carpc/stereo with whatevers left. then she sits until next year.
 
when the first round is said and done i'm lookin at 4-5k (plus parts i already have) for a presentable/drivable old ass car with low miles.
 
next year comes the real fun.

Good choice. Im glad your making sure that it will be running properly before u mod it. Thats the vip thing to do, well no thats just the logical thing to do:pat:

Just a warning but injectors for the Q are expensive.  Still, the VH motor runs forever.  MAKE SURE that you have the chain guides updated to the metal ones if it hasn't already been done, that's the #1 (and only) issue with the 90-94 Q VH45 engine.

What exactly is the car doing?

rough idle, power loss. typical bad injector symptoms. checked for codes; got a 55 (system ok). i'm really thinking about changing them myself. for the price i would have to pay someone else to change 3 or 4 i could change all 8 myself. its just so damn hot...

i was really in there to get the key out of the ignition, just did that while it was open. mission of the day accomplished.

Listen to your fuel pump and see if it sounds really loud. You may have seen this issue on nico. I don't know which is easier though, fuel pump or injectors. both make me shudder.!

iheardthe fuel pump on another one i looked at, not an issue on this one. my battery just died and i needed to move car so i went and bought a dry cell. noticed really weak ground replacemnt cable and clamp. fiddling with it actual improved the idle a bit. i'm going to big 3 it asap.
 
i ohmed the injectors and knock sensors yesterday... 4 dead injectors and both knock sensors, other 4 on the way out. 8 injectors and "ultimate hose kit" on the way.
 
on the blessing in disguise tip: my suspension order got cancelled because the guy was selling something that doesn't exist yet. sucks, but i could use the extra cash right now more than some springs/struts laying around.

yeah man... i was a little suprised too. i startedsnoopin around the engine bay and i'm feelin confident about the install. should be easy enough.
 
i also keep finding other little things here and there but nothing too serious.

came with black oem q45 mats, but all that white will be gone next year. that was just a little cleanin to make it bearable until then.
 
there was only so much i was willing to pay for a g50 period since 1) i knew the engine would need work regardless and 2) a lot of stuff will be swapped/modded next year. this will reach right about my limit by the time the maintanence is done.

From the looks of the engine, it definitely needs some TLC ;)

its just a bad camera/rain. the car seems to be fairly well taken care of, it just sat for a long  time. i'm gonna get in there and clean it up and probably have it professionally detailed when the maintenance is done.
