$35k to spend, which car?

Needs to be reliable as I'm going to one car, so no 90's cars. >60k miles.

I really can't make up my mind.

01-05 2g GS3/400 with bags, rims, system, etc. decked out
2006 GS300 with coils, rims, limited mods.

05-07 M35 bags, rims.

i can dig that but i'd take a warranty over some wheels/bags any day. i peeped some certified m35s around 30k so maybe car + one or the other.

Personally, I think the 3g GS300 looks better, but the used M35 is so much cheaper! (~$5k)

M45

I would go 03-04 M45. The body looks like no other car and they are pretty rare. 35k hmm...

i've got a 2gen GS3 w/ tanabe hyper medallion exhaust, tein s tech springs, 15% tint all around and privat netz rims (19" that I'm selling) if you would be interested in the car. I'm having trouble whether i should sell it or keep it so I'm kinda puttin it out there.

16,500 as sits

2000 GS3 w/82,xxx miles

If I had 35,000 I'd get an F50 with coilovers and rims. Might even have enough left for a body kit, and still have an accessory budget.

US cars are so ridiculously cheap. T_T

southwest infiniti has a few certified m's in your price range. i wouldn't skimp on the car just to factor in mods. my guess is if you have $35k laying around bag/wheel/accesory money shouldn'tbe a problem even if you have to wait a bit.

I tried to buy one, but the Infiniti dealer wouldn't come off the internet price at all.

I haven't bought a used car in a long time, but I really though the "certified" cars would be in better condition. Now I just think it's an extended warranty.

I'm going to go to a non-Infiniti dealership and try to get a better deal. I can buy my own extended warranty if needed.

Well I ended up getting a 2006 M45 with 22k miles for 30k, every option. It is Twilight Blue, which is not a traditional color, but I like it and almost every M I see fixed up is black or silver.

Now I'm looking for some wheels and springs/coilovers. I want to keep the wheels at about $600/ea, so I need to find a good source for used JDM wheels. However, 20" in offsets for this car seem to be impossible to find. :ughrun:

Great choice. Nice color too. Seriously, too many black and silvers! I'll be getting my M45 soon, but probably an '08er in WHITE (nobody jack me). Hope everything turns out sick. GL w the build. Keep us posted. Let's see some pics?

I was looking at white ones first, but the problem I found is that the aero kit, bumpers, and body panels turn different colors quickly (at least here in Houston). All the ones I looked at were cream white body, pure white bumpers, and yellow-white aero kit...

Pics soon (after wash). Blue is as bad as black! =)

I would second the 2003-04 M45, nothing else really like it.

I'm a little curious, do some of you bother to read the whole thread before posting?

There were several mentions of 'I would do this...' or 'You should get...' even though he said he has already pulled the trigger and bought a M45.

PS. Nice choice in vehicle. I would have done the same. Buying a 20K vehicle, and sinking 15K (ish!) in mods into it, and what do you get?

While it might look/drive/sound amazing... it's still a $20K car. Resale value might be $25-30K to a VERY select market.

My point exactly.

So, Why would you throw $15k(ish) down the drain? Buy a better car out the door, and if you ever felt the need to sell it (like almost everyone does), then you're not in over your head like so many people are currently.

Usually, I am all for making a car personalized. But there is a fine line between making it your own, and making yourself a fool.

I'm thinking (and I could be wrong...) that he got a loan for $35K, and doesn't have it just lying around, taking up space. Eventually, he will have to repay that loan.

...silly kid.

why?
because its a hobby, a life.
if there isa fine line for yo, you dont belong here.

I have no problem buying a 5,000.00 car and putting 10,000 in it.
ive done it 3 times now in the last 2.5 years. its part of life

What makes you think I haven't done it? I built minitrucks/lifted fullsizes for a LONG time with more money in suspension and framework than the vehicle was worth...

That doesn't make it any less of a stupid idea.

Have a wife? Own a house?

There is more to life then a lifestyle. I understand you have a shop, and you make money doing what you love. Congrats. However, people do have other priorities as well.

I would rather put $10K into my home, then into my car. I don't think that makes me any less passionate about the automotive lifestyle, though.
