Need help Y33 Wheel Guru's...

Just bought Pagong's old Y33 and need rims/tires badly (its rollin stockers currently, thats against my religion). Looking at some 19x10 +10 fronts and 19x12 +4 to stuff in & need to know what its gonna take to work, and if anyone has pics of a similar setup. Help me wheel guru's!

Fronts might need a small spacer to clear shock body, and a good little fender roll.  Rear will need the fenders trimmed out and S14 RUCA's and Toe Arms.  Adjust accordingly.

What wheels you picking up?  Those are some NICE specs!

Who's that and what is he running? EDIT: Nevermind, searched him & recognize who it is. He's not the same chassis or rim, why would me getting the AC's make him change wheels? :dunno:

I gotta learn to photochop... those rims on my car... hmmm.

I have been thinking about buying the AC's for my Q for a while, but I just love my works too much on the car.

i was looking at those AC's too, but i'm just a little scared of all the fender work required.  if you get them and they look tight on your Y33, i'll be kicking myself in the ass  :P

I actually wanted the same Works you have golfkid, but refuse to kinko someone elses setup so they are out of the running unless you change & sell me yours! Thats my debate now Jonny G, if they were a 9 & 10 they'd already be on the way to me, but I just dont have the experience with fender modding yet... still strongly considering them though!

yeah 9 & 10 seem to be perfect for our cars

I say 10/11 is perfect for the y33.  If I could change my works to 10/11's I would do it in a heart beat.  The rear end of our cars have retarded amounts of room.  The 12 in the back wont poke as much as Benjis 10 did with the crazy offset he had.  You can fit these not too difficultly with proper camber and the rear fenders trimmed.  If you were local I would be glad to do what it took to help you get these fit on your car.

Oh and Roc, the SLs on my car were the last set produced by Work.

you wont need any spacer for the front. daygovip619 has 19x10 +8 in the front with UAS and no rubbing. but the rest you'll need

I was just going off my own setup, but my bag sits lower and closer to the tire than one using stock shocks.  If you dont need a spacer up front, then BUY THESE!!!!

They were never actually mounted to your car, I just bought them from Elliot when he told me he didnt want to run very much camber.  They came with the sale.  I almost bought your car, but wanted to build my own air and found a stocker for too cheap.

OK, someone school me on fender "trimming" on a Y33.... most cars I'm familiar with have a double wall rear panel & when you trim it opens it up to water & debris entering the panel & beginning the cancer process. Do these need a full radius cut to open the wheelwell to a larger diameter, or just cutting the inside lip to flush with the outer edge?

And this will permanently camber my tops in or only when I'm slammed? What tire life can I expect running these?

I just got the inside lip until it was flush with the fender.  Not visible unless you are looking up from under the fender.

The RUCAs will camber to how ever much you want to be cambered.  Mine adjust from all down to drive height around 10 degrees of camber.  Because of our indepentant suspension you will have more camber slammed and less while driving.  Depending on how much camber you run, if you get it all aligned afterwards and your driving habits, will determine how much life you get from your tires.  

If i were to swap my tires side to side id say I could get 20k miles on a set of tires easy.  I run a lot of camber at drive height because I like to drive very low and i drive pretty aggressively on the freeway on ramps and corners I know.

as with any I.R.S. ( independent rear suspension) car, the mount of camber you have increases progressively as the wheel moves up. this means that the total camber is dependent on wheel position and how the arm is adjusted. mod the fenders and adjust camber so that the wheel clears at its flushpoint and that is the camber you need to run. and your tire wear is gonna suck!!

wow, i had to shorten mine to get more than -5.5*.  now i think i can go to about 10 or more, but currently running about -7*

I run right around -8 to 9 daily, havent had it aligned since i started driving a lot lower after i dropped the fronts down.  No idea what i am all down, but its crooked...

thrue those are the right parts but dont cheap out on quality for what actually connects you to the road! i would suggest here:

two they are semi local to you, so if anything goes wrong you have someone to turn to!

Thanks for the heads up on the arms, but personally, you couldnt pay me to run that style wheel on anything I own - absolutely hate that style wheel because of all the cheap knockoffs of it running around, dont care if its original or not. I wonder if that place will be open the day of the AF open house?

regardless of ride height, the camber will stay to what you set it to using the adj camber arms. i had the rucas adjusted to -7 degrees of camber w/ tein springs w/ stretched out falkens on my 99 Q45t. i was actually rollin on the sidewalls eventually wearin out the "falken" wording. if you do go with this setup, make sure you use the adj toe arms...they will be out of spec when your camber is tuned and tire wear will be quicker. oh yeah the tires were flipped <1k miles!

Well the AC's are out of the running for me, looking at other options right now - just dont want to deal with that much quarter modding at this point. If a set of 10's pops up I'm in.

I still believe the 19x10/11 +0/+0 setup is perfect for Y33.
