Previa ?'s

I plan buying a previa with in a couple of months, I want 2nd row pilotchairs and dual sunroofs. To get a decent van what should I look 4 and how much should I expect 2 pay? I know the previa is offered in awd and rwd, some also came with a manual tranny, and I've seen tons of aftermarket parts. Which model previa would be best to set up for drifting? I've seen it on japanese websites but I don't read japanese.  THANX

if you want to drift why dont you get a 240 or rx7? previas dont make good drifters unless your alreadt a pro and have 30k to invest in it.

I can understand you are trying to be different by trying to drift a minivan...but like Sean mentioned...if you are starting out drifing, why not get something set up for that. Or if you still want to be different, get a cressida, or late 80s infiniti or lexus coupes...you can do different motor in either one. With a previa, you will run out of power before you even get into the turn. Now if you want to do VIP style, then I think RWD is the best way to go (you can lower it more). Umm everything else I would imagine it's just like any used car...check the engine, drivetrain, make sure the paint is clean and no major accidents.

True, it would be a challenge. I want it 2 b v.i.p. style, but I saw a website (kim works) with a guy drifting a tcr estima. I figured there reasonably priced, rwd and the most awesome looking ride ever made. So is it at lease feasible? thanx

Estima drifting is definitely feasible, if you've built a fast Estima or a drift car before, But there's a lot more that goes into making a minivan drift, than making a sports car drift.

But, to answer your question: RWD supercharged.

You can drift just about any car that is RWD, has LSD and is fairly light. To drift a bigger car, you need a lot more power to break the tires loose, that's why a lot of 4 door driftcars are pushing 600HP, while 240's push 300-450HP, and AE86's are around 200HP range...it has to do with weight. You will need to reduce body flex (i.e. cage or a bunch of bars throughout the van), you will need the right suspension, 5 speed, LSD and turbo. 

Personally I would suggest turning it into a VIP car and nothing else. If you want to drift, get a very cheap S13 for $1K, drop LSD into it...set you back another $1K (tops), suspension for $1K and you've got yourself a car you can drift.

This is almost the same as when people try to turn their Camry's, Accords, J30s and other cars of the same type into VIP cars...it's possible, but requires a lot more work and a lot of times the finished product is still not VIP.

By the way 5speed previa is very rare now-a-days as well as finding one with good mileage. This topic is more off topic than VIP Style Boxes, Vans, and K-cars.

What about a crate engine? I was on a estima page (top line) where they had widebody kits, suspension components and all kinds of tcr Estima goodies. They had a fully built engine(turbo), but I don't know if it was 4 the tcr or not. OH YEAH? Does anyone know what model 5spd. tranny goes with the previa. Is there a conversion kit? THANX :)

the built engine on the topline page (as well zeus/mzspeed) are for the acr/mcr estimas. if your gonna just build your engine up yourself with mostly custom stuff just get your auto tranny built by [url]http://www.levelten.com/[/url] and you will be set. for the suspention stuff silkroad makes a god coilover kit but the best would be the styleking stufff ([url]http://www.styleking.co.jp/[/url]) they also make a great stabilizer bar, link kit bumpstops and most suspention stuff you would want and its the best you can get. then get their big brake kit , get the kimworks bars, tanabe lateral rod and the bprize body bracing ([url]http://www.auto-acp.com/name/toyota/estm/~bar.htm[/url]) :)

drifting a previa sounds pretty cool but in reality i think we should leave the drifting to the s13/14 unless they're are better estima drifting clips. but hey thats just my opinion. :P

thats the best the estima can do...... forget the dream of some super estima drift machine. get a s14 zenki and supermade it out :)

Thanx :) Shawnthemonster. I checked out the pages u suggested they had some dope stuff, but I can't read japanese . When u buy parts how do u order?  OH YEAH! I should have enough $ 2 get my previa next month. I saw abunch 4 dirt cheap with a billion miles on them but a replacement engine is also dirt cheap :) I was looking at engines on ebay. ?, with the jdm engine, besides wiring it from rigth to left what else has 2 b done? Can I use the oem harness and ecu, what parts can b salvaged, would I need anything extra 2 drop in a jdm s/c engine ? Thanx in advance the answers 2 ant of these ?'s
