how many have swaped engines?
Wondering how many have swaped eengines more so an rb26 swap,, because I'm thinking of doing one in a 91 or 93 ls400. A rb26 with the 5sp so it'll be taken out of a r32-33.

before everyone else says use the search button... you should check out www.nicoclub.com or even club lexus... =T you'd get a better response from them.... then again, rb in an LS? hope you got money... i'd do a 2jz if anything... but if you wanna be different, then prepare to fabricate... and get you're money ready.

Regardless of the engine you use, you're looking at some serious fabrication. despite popular belief (outside of the Lexus Guys) the Engine bay of the V8 cars is actually a good deal different than the engine bay of the S6 cars so lots of fab work is in order.
If you're not doing the Fab work and tuning your self you're going to spend at least twice the amount of parts on Electronic and Metal work. As a wise man once said to me...

2jz with 6 speed will be less than the swap youve mentioned. Do a bit more research on whats involved. The 1uzfe can be mad into a decent TT or single turbo for a 3rd of the cost..

Umm...It's too bad retrodrive isn't around on CL anymore....
The 2jz-gte bolts in as far as the engine bay goes. Wiring will have to be done custom, and a custom driveshaft as well. Fab the intercooler/exhaust pipings, and toss in an LSD and you are good to go.
Go with a built auto trans, or a TH400 to hold power if you want anything over 400hp.
IIRC you have to use non vvti supra mounts, or vvti aristo mounts, something like that....only a bit of old info about it....2 guys that I KNOW did it, were retrodrive, and some guy in Thailand. Retrodrive's site isn't up anymore, which is a shame, because it had a bit of info on stuff like that, that you could use. Search on Club Lexus in the LS400 forums for it.
Other than that, you can supercharge the beezy, with either a vortech style or some other one from Australia, or you could TT or single turbo the car like the SC guys do it. Pretty much the same enginebay, a little tweaking here and there and it can be done.
AND....anything can be done depending on how much money you'd want to throw at the car.

Oh really? They bolt up with minimal finesse huh? I was speaking to a couple toyota guys i know from College a few years back. They were saying that the Bays are completely different and you'd have to do some serious fab work to get the 6 to lay in the engine bay.
It started when i stumbled across a UCF20 with a 2JZ in the bay, I wondered what it took to get it in there. I'll have to research it a little more=)

we count all my previous cars ? No motor was stock ... on my Gs though ... I was considering the ls6 auto when I sold the sr20det miata ..
I am sure that would have been something Nice

Think about it this way.
The 1uz was put into both the LS and the SC chassis.
The 2jz-ge was put into the SC chassis.
The 2jz-gte was put in the supra, as well as the ge chassis. They are interchangeable.
from supra to sc to LS, you mix and match the mounts, they'll fit in.
Its the wiring, and the fabbing of piping that makes it hard.
Getting the motor in is not hard, getting it to run is a bit tricky, getting the gauges to run stock would be a bit more work, but if you have either creativity and mechanical knowledge, or money, it can be done pretty 'easily'.
It's the damned wiring that is the problem, custom driveshaft, custom pipings. If I still had my LS400 I'd have researched it even more...

LOL...Yep
Anyways it will cost a hella lot more to put an RB26 in there than a 2JZ think about it.

Putting the RB motor would be different and everything but just the motor and tranny cost more than the 2JZ just imagine the install cost unless you do it your self.

RB26 is a weak over-rated over-priced motor. Think about it, why would you really want it? because of the coolness factor? Why not go 3 liters, more HP capability, and toyota quality?
Look at how many 1k HP Supras are out there running around compared to 1k hp ZOMG skylines.

Thats true you dont have to do much to a Supra motor you can build the topend and leave the bottom end stock get a boost controller and you would be sittin good. You really dont see to many RB swaps. I agree it's more of the cool factor with a skyline motor. Dont get me wrong though you give me a GTR and I would rock the hell out of it.

i always thought it would be cool to put an ls1 and 6 speed out of an ss camaro into an ls400. not really vip but it would be a sleeper.
