For all the 2GS owners

If you are planning on lowering your 2gs. which you will obviously lol remember to change out your front lower ball joints cause they WILL give out sooner or later. stock toyota/lexus front lower ball joints cannot take the strenuous stress of being lowered for very long. and if you are already lowered and you hear suspension noise "irregular creeks while you turn or while in the process of turning then that is most likely your ball joints. but you never know so if you hear irregular front suspension noise please go to your local mechanic and have it checked out. spending a couple hundred is always better then a couple thousand =) my 2 cents drive safe, drive low. if you dont know what it looks like here some visual aide lol.

just lowered my 2GS on coilovers, car's done 132k Km's but doesnt make any noise at all from the front. but i guess whacking some newies in would be a good move. where do you guys source them from? is there somewhere cheap online? My Lexus dealer is the only 1 in Western Australia and is exxy as..

It depends which years 98-00 had issues with the lower ball joints lowered or not. 2001 + they fixed the problem.

^ ah okay. mine is 98. i am going to jack it up and check them out tonight, but i dont think mine has had a hard life until now when ive just dropped it 3" haha
 
just rang and talked to my Lexus dealer, looking at $323AU per side for the Ball Joints, and $594AU for labour, so $1238AU all up! :sad:

If you can find them cheaper, get them and do them yourself. It's not hard at all. 

If you are on clublexus, find the sewell vendor, and see if they'll ship to AUS, it's about 120US (+shipping) for the pair. They sell them on Ebay as well, you can find them with sewell in their ad pages. 



Just a heads up, they go out on stock cars, not just from being lowered. If you aren't changing out your tie-rod ends, you won't need to get an alignment. 

Make sure to get a pitman arm puller. Cheap, effective tool. That's about all for the tips on these. VERY easy to install.

verrry good info!!! and +1 for the visual aid AND cool Jdm looking guy! lol and please use that pitman puller makes it a TON easier!... if you dont want to buy one you can also rent em! any way else is just wasted strength and effort! haha

man I need to get my shit checked out .. I have heard some creeking ...  and brakes too .. but I only drive the car everyonce and a while .

i jumped onto Carson Toyota's site and they had the front ball joints cheaper than i could find on the Sewell site. Sent Carson a message and total cost sent to Australia is about $187US so about $215AU! bargain :P so ima grab a pair ASAP just to be safe

That's good, they tend to compete so one or the others' price will be lower at the time, still the best deals around from those two for OEM parts :biggthumpup:

James, get your stuff checked asap. Better yet, just have Shane replace them for you? :shrug:

//935 - that's both mate! yeh i replied with how to proceed so hopefully get the deal done in the next day or early next week! 
 
yah my daily commute is probably 90% freeway driving at an average of around 90km/h ... so i dont want any flailing loose wheel action!

So the ball joints they sell now are revised or what?

damn thanks for the heads up. i will be replacing mine while my suspension is apart for my UAS air kit =D
