1992 Toyota Spaceship
This is my Soarer/Spaceship/Ballermobile.
It is not a VIP car, not by any means. Its not comfortable. Its loud. It has the need to cook tires and go sideways. Most importantly it seems to be missing two doors. My goal with this car is to build a VIP styled street/drift machine. Its on its way.
The car started like this; exploded suspension, failboat wheels, leaking everything. But it looked neat.
The car stayed this way for quite some time. I didnt drive it much. I didnt really like it. But after I fixed a few little things and started to put the car back together, my outlooks changed. I put wheels on it that didnt require 1" spacers, some good tires, half ass fixed the brakes, smashed the bumper, and some other random shit I forgot about.
Another failboat wheel change and some more random shit. Changed out the blown coilovers for some K-sports, did some brake-work, got a dished steering wheel/qr hub, fixed wireing problems etc.
Then I decided to randomly roll the fenders, fix some leaks, get a twin plate clutch, 2 way diff, and get some sweet wheels.
This is how the car sits today. Its not pretty. I abuse it. And it still needs a lot more money dumped into it.

The roads here suck monkey ass, plus my front wheels are eating the inner fender well due to the long stroke of the coilover. As soon as I sell this current setup, I'll be looking into more circuit oriented, short stroke suspension. Either that or I need to do some tubbing. Thats the only way I'll go lower :sad:

I love it!!! 1JZ's are awesome motors! i came from an S13 so i totally understand the dings and dents haha! it gives it character! nice wheel selection on what look youre trying to acheive.... you will get a lot of good tips from this site! welcome man!

I understand the roads, I live in PA and ya they pretty much suck, but I'm also pretty well slammed. Have you thought about going with a bag/coilover suspesion? That mite work out well for you. You will have the aspect of getting pretty low and not sacraficing ride comfort or stiffness for getting sideways=)

^ It can go a lot lower, I need to tub the front wheel wells to do that. I dont want to put that much effort into it, so I aint gonna go lower :) I couldnt care less about comfort. I have 14kg/10kg springs with max preload and they aint stiff enough. I'd ideally like 20kg/16kg, but this isnt Japan and the entirety of the suspension would get destroyed do to the coilovers not having any give.
To use the coilovers I have to their full effectiveness, my car needs to shed 500-600 lbs, which would in turn make it into something I wouldnt want to drive every day. That said, bags would be completely out of the question for tracking this car no matter the weight, wayyyy too soft.
And filter, the 1J is brilliant. There are several other motors I'd rather be using, but the cost/performance ratio the 1JZ gives cant be beat.
Im trying to buy a JZX81 Chaser right now, so the direction of this Soarers modification may change to more of a street car. Time will tell.

I would keep the same color paint you dont see it to often cause everyone like to change the color to black, silver or pearl white.

Minor update. Bought a stereo, some bushings, and a few other things. Stereo will be installed in a week or so. Major service to be done within a month. I have bought another car for sliding around, so the direction with this one is going to change to just a street car. I'll get some pictures of the two of them this weekend, I just need to clean up the other car and re-fit the body kit. :biggthumpup:

The Chaser was some sort of midnight blue at some point in time. It was sprayed with paintballs several months ago, and the guy who cleaned the car did a very, very bad job. The clear is so fucked, its a few different blues right now haha. I just edited the pictures a bit so it didnt look like complete ass.

Why hello to everyone again, I have made it back to VIP style cars.
As you have seen, theres a blue Toyota Cresta which I now own along with my Soarer. Both cars are going in the same direction - fun street cars that I can take to an event and drive home again. The Cresta may eventually get a full rollcage and become a race car, but for now I am just going to piece together an interior and fix up the chassis so I can get it on the road.
