previa speakers

so who has changed out the front speakers (in your doors) on their previas? if so did you have to custom something or did the oem brackets work for this?

Had to do some "Moddification" as I am now running 6 inch Components in the fronts. We had to "stretch" and "cut" the plastic which holds the stock speaker to "fit" the 6 inch Components. Because the "holes" did not match up, we used the one hole which did align and had to "rig" the other mounting points using "brackets". The openings were all "sealed" up with DYNAMAT......now it sounds and runs like a champ. Hope this helps.

FYI there is a lot of room between the "Door Panel" and the "Door". We were able to place the "Cross - overs in there with lots of room to spare.

It is going to need some "custom work"............the speakers are mounted very strange.........if you think the fronts are bad.......don't even ask about the rears. They actually have a "screw" drilled into the back of the "Magnet" to "hold" it in place. Oh yeah and before you even get to that you have to remove both rear seats and a whole bunch of other stuff because each "side" panels for the rears are one looooooong piece. Not fun at all!!

Wish you luck Shawn.......my friends who helped me out are Sound Guys and they were a ton of help. If it were not for them I would still have my stock "card board" speakers. LOL

well actually i found brackets from another previa for the rear so i can just replace the speakers with what ever (5 1/4) speaker i want....my fronts are like you described your rears. i was hoping that their was a bracket from another previa that would allow me to do the same. and on the interior its all gutted right now anyways because i just sound deadened it and will be doing some rewrapping soon ;)

Sorry...wish I had some.......never took any shots..........both front and rear needed some "custom" brackets and the rears of the speakers "wrapped" in Dynamat. Used 6" Boston Separates in the Fronts and 5 1/4 Boston Co-Axels in the Rears. I forget what type of Bostons LOL.

Wish I sound deadened my ride.....I got so much "shakin"....it's not good.
