Air suspension geomety

Hey guys, being relatively new to the air suspension scene (more of a spring/strut, coilover type guy), I just had a question for some of the more experienced guys. I know that with air suspension, when lowered all the way down the wheels camber all the way in. My question is, what actually allows the wheels to camber all the way in like that, does the air strut (or cylinder, on my 96 RL) have any kind of camber adjustment that automatically adds neg. camber, or what's the deal with that?

its the suspension geometry. just think about the strut, and the movement of the lower control arm, toe arms, etc etc.

and suppose at driving height, you wanted to run more/less camber, how would you adjust that, if even possible?

Not all cars will naturally camber in. MacPherson struts do not normally camber...

Active (air/hydro) of passive (drop springs/coilovers) suspension is the same. For the suspension linkages on your car. Every inch of movement it will give different camber/toe numbers.

To talk solely about cambers.

So depending on how low you're riding (static ride height), it will give X amount of camber. If you go higher, the amount of negative camber will lessen (to the extent of being in positive degree of camber).

The lower you go, the more negative camber created.

Point to note is that different models of cars with the same type of suspension (e.g: MacPherson struts, double wishbone, multi link and etc) will get you different camber numbers.

That's all peachy, until the point of diminishing returns. I've seen a MacPherson struts going from negative camber to zero camber back to negative camber throughout it's entire suspension movement.

yeah I'm familiar with the regular suspension geometry and whatnot, most of my modding had been done on suspension on my previous car, but I was curious as to whether or not the wheels on a bagged car would naturally run that really agressive camber that you always see when fully lowered, or if you would need control arms or something? I know with coilovers there are lower and sometimes upper camberplates, and I wasnt sure if an air cylinder type suspension had that.

Suspension geometry will be the same for any given height whether bags or coilovers for the most part. If dumped 4in on bags and 4in on coilovers suspension settings should be the same if thats what you mean.

Oh... I think you're looking for those 'broken axle' kinda cambers on full dump?

If I'm not mistaken, that is way outta stock adjustment capabilities. There are a few fellas here that have those aftermarket arms/parts.
