New Sportmax's. (56k no bueno)

Ok guys, finally got the somewhat controversial sportmax's on and got some time to take semi-respectable, non-cellphone pictures. I have to say, I really like them (I'm just high on gold wheels...), so let me know what you all think about em, whether it's good or bad!

I had a lot more, but I could only put up 10.

Let's begin, sorry about the waterspots on my wheels and my filthy windows...

firelizard, actually I'm not really sure what made me go with them...other than the tires that were on the car when I bought it were worn out haha. I've always been drawn to them, but just never actually had anything that they would work with. Before I bought my RL, a 96 RL came into the shop where I worked and for a split second I got a vision I guess you could say, I saw a white RL with gold 19s on air with tint and I think a small lip kit...so I'm just trying to build that car that I saw in my head...lol kind of a wierd explanation, sorry. I think they really turned out quite nicely on the car though, a lot nicer than I would have expected.

ehhh, i'll have to see it dropped before i can make an opinion. I personaly would think a darker gold would look better. About sportmax in general, they are def not VIP, but they might look good with a drop on your car.

Its ok. It wouldnt looks so bad if it didnt look like you were about to off-roading. The wheels arent that bad, especially for the price. I had a set of those for beaters on another car.

IMO i'd roll stock before rolling that high... no offense, but when it comes to rims, i wouldn't rock them until i can have a desireable ride height. even if they were expensive ass VIP rims. otherwise you just look like someone who doesnt know what he's doing and picked up the first set of rims on the shelf. other than that, i always liked white on gold... i think it'll look pretty nice when its dumped. have someone chop the photo for you to get a better idea of how you'd like it to be finished. but until then, good luck with everything else.

Great offset. Cheap wheels.

You should sell the sportmax's and get some real VIP wheels.

I am on the fence, I hate those wheels for VIP for 2 reasons, They are cheap wheels designed for the quick buck.

And I despise that double lip shit.

If you can sell them off for the same price I would do that. Just my .02

But to keep this post from being completely negative, the fitment looks good so when you lower it should keep an aggressive stance.

Yeah you should've waited imo  most here sort out the suspension and save for nicer better fitting wheels...you could have rolled slammed on stockies and been more respected for your choice...the car is clean though and has lots of potential cant wait to see it done right...sorry if I seem harsh again its just my opinion

Once you drop it, it will look a hell of a lot better, but personally I would sell the wheels and get the air suspension on first. Unless of course you can afford to drop it right now then by all means do it quick.

It might just be me but I'm willing to sacrifice a wheel size to drive the car dropped to the ground. Especailly if you going with air suspension it would be a shame to get the air suspension set up on there only to realize you can't drop it to the floor because of the wheels(if thats what you looking for out of air suspension). I read in another one of your post your coming from coilover set ups(like myself), the first thing I realized in my research about air suspension is, if you think coilovers got you low.... you have no idea what air suspension can do for ya =) especially if you on a nice flat strip of road and you can REALLY dump it.

That being said They don't look bad, they just don't really stand out and say wow, since this whole style seems to have come from standing out in exreme ways I think a huge drop would have been a better way to start the car off, big rims on a stock hieght car just isn't that extreme or stand out-ish anymore.

But you gotta start somewhere and if they make ya happy then at the end of the day thats what matters most =)

thanks guys for all the feedback, and zion thanks for the photoshop! Yeah, like I said, I would have loved to get air suspension first, but the tires that were on the car were shot...so i figured I might as well get the wheels and tires done and over with. And actually I didn't think it would be as much as it was...the sportmax's jump up a little in price for the 19s, total for all of em was $1,44x.xx, but I still love how they look, and eventually I'm sure I will pick up some weds or some other great wheels... I need a fender-roller for sure though...

Looks wise, they are pretty good.

But I hate xxrwheels. The manufacturing quality is nothing short of rediculously terrible. I could never personally justify spending money on a new set of cheaply made wheels when I could go buy a set of clean quality used wheels for the same price or less.. sorry man.

But that really isnt the point. When its slammed it'll be a damn sharp looking car. :)

$1,400 is pretty expensive.. I think on ebay you could have got some "19 350z wheels" that look better , even these http://corporate.marketworks.com/hi/51/50502/nissanmeshtriples.jpg *my friend put those on his ls400*

I agree. At edgeracing.com they are $169 each for 19s. But we learn though, how long did you search around for the best deal? Like a year ago on the forum I normally be at through the sponsor section I could of had a set of 504's shipped for $625. I don't know of any forums you're on but the sponsor/vendor sections definitely have some good deals. Now that you have the wheels on I want to see when this car gets low. The photoshop is such a tease.

I'd have to agree.

$1400 for Sportmax is way too much.

I bought my whole set for about $700 with tires.

Now my AME's are another story ;)

I may be new to posting on this forum, but i agree. vip projects take time, money (quite a bit for the most part) and patience. but if these are the wheels you wanted then congrats to you.

well thanks for all the input, good and bad. FTR, I wasn't labeling my car vip with these on it, not close at all. I didn't expect them to even compete with Weds or AME wheels, I think they'll look nice when I drop it, but eventually they will be on craigslist and swapped for some SSR Rossetti's

thats what I was always curious about jdmerik, I saw that you could use TSX coilovers on the KA9 but I wasnt sure about what all else you need. Also with G1 legend forks you can run suspension made for the KA7/KA8 legends too. But air should be coming definitely soon, within a couple months no doubt.
