the runs and crap here there and everywhere remind me a little of the job on my last S13. but whereas that job there all of the issues were like 8,9,10/10 type issues, mine were all like 2,3/10 issues, so i fixed them myself or just dealt with them. But similar circumstance with finding misaligned shit, dodgey shit, overspray, things not done that were said they would, orange peel, runs, etc. And i had the same issue running round trying to collect it and paying more than originally quoted.
 
but man i cant get over that job. FFS. even the screws arent in straight! if your going to smash screws in he could have at least done them in a straight line and drove them in horizontal!

funny how we installed and painted the same exact lip kit on a silver 350z, but the work they did is really shitty and unacceptable. you're homeboy needs to go back there and get everything redone and his money back!

holy shit, id totally fuck the body shop owners face up.  That is totally unacceptable!!  He deserves more than just a right install.  He needs a whole new body that isnt raped....  What the fuck were these guys thinking....

It's a shame that Mike is still in business. He screwed up Grant's two paintjobs, destroyed Brian's Z, and still has all of his limbs AND a job.

That is the most F'up shit i ever seen. i could do a better job with super glue. i never seen so many screws on a kit. he should of went to Daygovip619 shop.:eek2::eek2::eek2:

yup it's a replica.. you can tell by the wavy surface on the sideskirts and rear lip, but everything was fitted correctly. that's why it's best to buy the real shit because really you're just gonna spend more in the long run. 

We did an audi a4 w/ a knockoff lip kit and the cost to fit, cut, fiberglass, and paint was almost twice as much as getting a legit kit repainted. Most replica parts are stored on the shelf and underneath the sun so they get warped and fucked up. that's why most companies in japan have them made to OEM spec when you made the order.

The fact that he even stated in his AIM conversation that there would be no holes, and be able to go back to stock easily, is proof that his work was not what he said it would be, and couldn't that be considered fraud?

holy moly... going through this guys photobucket, it looks like this guy does do some good work... some... must be talented to turn on and off his skills... even with a knock off kit, and a price that low, i wouldve at least tried to make it look decent... when i worked at the autobody shop, we would get some serious knock off, of the knock off kit you could find... as bad of a quality they were, and as low of a price that was given, we did our damnedest to make it fit and look good to put out a good name for our shop. and it worked. sure we didnt give it our ALL on it, because of the price but we did make it look good. 
 
to my understanding this is the same guy that painted grants car? theres alot of guys from other forums that register on that forum to tell their stories too... 
 
i remember we had an ings replica for a G35, total shit... guy bought it off ebay of all places. after making fun of him, and giving him ballistic prices (he was our friend btw) we did the job, nothing we did was as low as $250 but for the "friend price" that was given to him, he was really happy...
 
when i do side jobs and the guy would low ball here and there, car would look like shit, kit was used or a knock off, sure id get pissed about it, but id suck it in, and think id was to put out a good name for myself. but thats me... 
 
you can look at my build thread for my LS400... im not getting paid to work on my own car, im not bragging or anything but i know i do pay alot of attention to detail, and take pride in my work... think about what kind of a job i CAN do if i was getting paid for it.... =) with that being said, if anyone wants to fly me over to bodywork and paint your car......:giggity: just check out my build thread=)

painter is a clown, but i think he obviously doesnt like the owner of the 350z. i mean damn, he straight raped his car. every aspect of his job was done wrong, and to me it seems mostly on purpose. this seems more like a fuck you job. haha. either that or he let his 7 year old son have at it.

I agree Knock off and 250 for paint and install!  I guess when you look for a deal you get what you pay for =)

Funny thing is that the guy who did the body work on that Z is the same guy who flew over to Japan and did Grant (Yokotas13) y33 and Celsior

Grant was also really disappointed for spending like 3k on the dude or whatever to shoot 2 cars and put him up and also fly him out to Japan. Remember, Grant scrapped both cars afterwards.

I thought the initial estimate was $250, he gave a price of $250 without seeing the kit and without test fitting it... the owner of the Z thought it would be higher. Then after that guy (mike is it?) saw it or what not, he hiked it up to like $700 or $800 or something like that...  I like how he obviously put a floor jack under the doors and jacked them up to clear the side skirts.. Hahaha, what a clown. And the wooden mixing sticks as a shim for the side skirts, at least use the one you used to mix the paint so it matches... and don't forget the wood screws... in all my days, even the young kids in high school that pick up 240sx, and install a unpainted body kit and run it around unpainted for 1 year don't even use wood screws...   But I must agree, this guy must have hated the Z owner. Or something. I mean, just looking at how many wood screws were used on each side skirt, and how they were spaced out, that looks like it was out of hate.... and the jack under the door, hate...   Btw, this thing in on like every forum I go one... word is spreading, and spread the word...

i remember seeing the pics too here, not impress with the work either.

i think the guy do same level of work. just some people who have higher standard then others.

i remember i had customer who came in willing to pay just the least amount and said he don't care how nice we install them. i send him to those shops where they will do just that.

my thing is modding a car is suppose to be making them look and perform better than stock. what is the point if it doesn't such as doing a custom paint job but with over sprays on the trims. i would just leave it alone.

not defending the work on this car, cause its definitely ruined, but i spoke to mike the owner and hes just as disturbed about this as everyone else. Since hes in school, he has his worker complete certain "easy" projects for him and it was mikes mistake for not qc-ing the work done from time to time before completion. And it was also his mistake to release it to the customer without trying to correct the mistakes. He showed up a few hours before the customer came to pick up to realize the amount of damage done. mike fired the guy who did the work, but the worker did so much, that theres not much anyone would be able to do to help the situation. 
 
This is gonna have to be another one he'll have to take a hit for in the pocket and his shop rep... 

its sad cause he has the ability to do good work, he just to decide to do only good work and only take good customers, and to leave the cheapskates to the lower end shops ... 
 it all boils down to you get what you pay for....

It still looks very very fishy, from the low low estimate, to the amount of time it took to get the car started, how the shop is run, and then there's the thing with Grant's cars.

Looks like this might be the final nail in the coffin he built for his shop.

so the owner of the shop let his guys do the work even though they are not qualify?

did the owner even know what their skills level before hiring?

either way fishy to me because i can't just hire anybody and trust them doing the customer's cars without giving them the proper training they need. at the very least the owner will need to supervise them while they are doing it.

i agree, he should have let the customer know for a start that it likely wouldnt be him personally doing the work and let him decide. and if mike is dumb enough to hire someone like that when its his name and his shop on the line for it then he deserves all this bad rep.
 
the fact of the matter is that the worst thing about this job isnt the fact that its a bit ill fitting or wavey its the fact that theyve done major damage to the car in the process. thats got nothing really to do with the price or the legitimacy of the kit. if it was so crap and they couldnt fit it, they could have told the car owner.

Man thats the true meaning of [B]screwed[/B] up! 
 
what the hell was that installer thinking.. and how the hell could that shop hire a carpenter.. would have been more classic if the guy used nails and some wood glue and to fill the gaps they could have at least used wood putty or some cuacking.. 
 
I have seen some strange things before but this is pure classic.. 
 
Reminds me of a shop in Hawaii.. and the owner of the shop even judges HIN.. i think even he does better work than this dude..

yeah same guy that fucked up both my projects nad lead to both being scrapped

i know he can do a good job, the 180 he painted wasnt perfect, but very acceptable for hte 800 the kid paid (he did 3 cars while he was here)

also, some other guys gave me pics of their cars he painted, and htey all looked satisfactory.  I wasnt looking for 3k paint job. All i required was oem (meaning, orange peel to an extent, and not totally perfect) Cars would be junked in 2010 anyways. But hell, i didnt even get that. Thank GOD i know how to install my own aero, so my wald kit and JCauto kit were installed correctly.  

overall, mike is a decent guy to hang out with, but if i ever see him again, its not gonna be fun for either of us.

I'm tellin' ya Grant, I'll do it for free + materials, just for the trip.
