need advice on bags other than aerosport

ok. well, after many months of procrastination, i finally installed the bagovers on the rear of my 93 es300 today. well, the way i had everything setup and calculated, was that i was modifying the coilovers for "broken axle" camber look. now everything has been modified, but the bags are too large in diameter, and the camber has to be adjusted back to positive, making the wheels poke about 1". i dont want to do overfenders, just the modified lips. now all i need is something similar to the aerosport bags, they actually fit the ksport coilovers perfectly, but like i said, due to the shock tower, i need to run a smaller diameter bag, so that i can adjust everything back out to negative camber, and have my wheels fit the car with the broken axle look. i will probably be running more than -10degrees camber, this is not for the faint of heart. some may like, some may not. btw, i will be posting up pics soon of where it stands currently, and my new insurance exhaust. wink wink. the kit is off on hold til i get the air finished and wheels thrown on.

TIA
Charley

this is just about max neg camber, but unfortunately, it rubs. alot. i think these pics are of wheels unloaded still in air.

now look.

this is after the camber was adjust(back to pos and on the ground) to prevent rubbing of bag

Check these out. You can custom fab your own air struts by Easy Street. They look at lot thinner than the Aerosports so those might work. Good luck. I really want to see this build.

In order to keep that camber, you’re going to have to modify the strut towers in order for the bag to clear with that much camber. How "bad" is it hitting the towers? If it’s barely touching it then usually a hammer and some "persuasion" will do the trick. But if it’s really only there then your going to want to cut and weld.

Another option is we can try a shorter travel bag so its not as large in diameter when its inflated up, but its only a little bit smaller, not alot of difference.

We have the patent on the “inner chamber” so you will not find a bag that is smaller in diameter and still be able to slide over the ksports and not seal against them.

yeah, thats what i was thinking about, since it should be the cheaper way for me.
now on the site, it say diameter to be 5.875", is this the size of the bag uninflated how you guys send them out, or is the size it will reach once aired up?

what if i was to set my coilovers so that at full up, the length of the bag will be 9.25" and full down will be at 5.75", will the bag be any smaller at full air? what about at 5.75"?
or is it that the bag will never exceed the diameter of 5.875"?
Thanks

Have a drink and a good nights sleep. Great to see you working on this.

How about relocating the position of the bag up or down so it won't interfere with the suspension? Is sounds like that's what you getting at by putting the coilovers full up.

no. its not interfering with the suspension, well it is, but lemme explain.
coilovers need to be set at full neg for wheels to fit flush. but the spring on coilover is a lot smaller than the bag, therefore the rubbing of the bag on the shockwheelwell walls. so in order for it to fit currently, its set back to almost full positive, changing the distance of the coillover from the shock wall. thats the reason why i was searching for smaller sized bags. so that i can run full neg. look at the 3 pics. the first two, i managed to get it at almost full neg, but the bag is rubbing extreme on the shock walls. the third pic, i adjusted the camber back to full positive, and its about 1" poke.

when the bags are at the fully inflated they are around 5.5" in diameter because they streach up and shrink in diameter. I always recommend having at least 6 1/8" - 6 1/4" in clearance depending on how the suspension travel is on the vehicle (ES Style suspension can be closer then IS/GS/LS/SC) because different suspension's will swing the strut different ways and if the bag is comming in contact with anything while it has air it will eventually rub through the bag.

Sounds like you may need to hammer or tub the body to get the clearance you need.
