.:New Member with Lexus GS:.

Hi guys
 
I have had my 99 Lexus GS300 for about nearly 4 weeks. Im from Australia, Sydney to be specific. 
Not many GS but alot of IS200's, but they arn't really VIP rides =) 
Im so excited about modifying the Lexus to be a VIP style whip and am trying to learn as much about them everyday :) 
Im a uni student so please be patient with my slow progress, im not as baller as most of you guys... haha
 
So far only mods are L.E.D tail lights which really change the look of the back of the car, a Junction Produce FUSA, Bellezza curtains which i havent installed.
 
Comming soon as im saving up rite now are 19inch Vertini Hennesseys, HKS Hipermax coils and Alpine DVD.

clean man clean.. same interior combo as mine too, looks mint also :) are you going to go things like chrome boot bar and door handles? they make a bit of a statement if you want to go that way, and are easy to install yourself. white is nice clean colour though, not as loud as my red one!

thanks guys, i can't wait till i get new wheels as right now my car is an old mans car haha
i am saving to buy new wheels but am always tempted to buy random shit like fusa, puddle lights, chrome door handles and stuff so its hard

^ haha tell me about it dude. Though i think it isnt such a bad thing to do those little things early on cause they do make a difference. its hard for people to put their finger on it, but it just looks 'different' somehow and they cant tell why, and its those little things that do it. And then finally you whack the big thing on like wheels & susp and all of a sudden it has big impact.

Yea I think chrome trunk bar and grill are next before wheels, 
What suspension do you guys think is good for GS's, im going Coilovers and around the price range of <$2,000
Im thinking Tein SS for major slammage...HKS? JIC's? 
 
yea today i just spent more money at the dealership coz my tranny mounts were worn. sucks!

coilovers are all personal choice, Teins JICs HKs will all slam your ride nicely. depends how soft/comfy you want it too. i got Insurance Group ones cause they have soft spring rates cause i wanted it comfy but they are maybe a bit too soft for being so low.

Yea i like a smooth ride and i think HKS and JIC are both quite hard. Your really liking the Insurance Group coils yea Ant? are they <$2000 cos if they have a factory kinda ride im interested....I can't use Yahoo Japan coz its all in japanese lol  but i'll try to search for them

Yeah i like them, nice and comfy. I put them in with standard preload (didnt touch springs) and set damper i think 3 clicks from hardest and it rode exactly like stock, my mates & g/f couldnt tell the diference. except it was a bit less floaty and less body roll. since then i increased the preload on them and increased damper 1 more click and they now a fair bit firmer and harsher but i think i will need that for when i get 19s. I may decrease preload a bit though once i see howi go with 35 series tyres on it.
 
for looking up coilovers i used [URL="http://www.importmonster.com.au"]www.importmonster.com.au[/URL] it is an interface for Yahoo Japan auctions. you can get an account and buy through there but they add all fees and taxes etc. Another way is to use someone like jesse streeter ([EMAIL="dartsun75@gmail.com"]dartsun75@gmail.com[/EMAIL]) who buys things for you on your behalf. he avoids taxes and charges less fees. If you find the item you want by using importmonster site, then just copy the yahoo auctions part of the link and paste it and email to Jesse and he will price up for you.
 
there are lots of options, JIC VIPs around 1300 plus postage, so must run out around the 2k mark through Jesse. However, i was lucky and found my Insurance coils on sale and it worked out to $1300 delivered

The Vertini Hennesy is nice good way to go. I got the Riviera in 20s for sale if you're interested.

i can't wait till i get coilovers. only thing is that my rear 275 tyres make abit of noise, should have gone with 245 haha,  but they wouldn't look as cool from the back

I agree with you, I like the wide meaty tire look myself, cuz it makes the car look more muscular, especially from the back.   Your car is coming along very nicely.  Keep up the good work.  It's all tying in together.
